DON’T MISS SEASON 2 OF THE GOLDEN GLOBE AND EMMY AWARD-WINNING HBO® SERIES
STARRING REESE WITHERSPOON, NICOLE KIDMAN, SHAILENE WOODLEY, LAURA DERN, ZOË KRAVITZ, AND MERYL STREEP

From the author of Nine Perfect Strangers, Truly Madly Guilty, and The Husband’s Secret comes the #1 New York Times bestselling novel about the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive.

A murder...A tragic accident...Or just parents behaving badly? What’s indisputable is that someone is dead.

Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She’s funny, biting, and passionate; she remembers everything and forgives no one. Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare but she is paying a price for the illusion of perfection. New to town, single mom Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for a nanny. She comes with a mysterious past and a sadness beyond her years. These three women are at different crossroads, but they will all wind up in the same shocking place.

Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandal, and the little lies that can turn lethal.

Love this book! I watched the first episode of the TV series on HBO and knew I wanted to listen to the audiobook before watching the rest of the series! It didn’t disappoint!

Like all of the books by this author that I have read before this book starts out a little slow while we are getting introduced to the characters. However, after that the book gets really good as I was anticipating what comes next. All along I kept wanting to know “who dunit”. As always there were great characters and the narrator made them come to life so well.

Great book! Took me a bit in the beginning to sort out who was who, but I was sucked into the story line and the characters and couldn't stop listening. The narrator was great, and it kept me guessing. Very entertaining.

Even though it is tough to follow with all of the flashbacks, it is a good story. Not done watching the serial, but the book was a much better story so far.

I happened across the television series and completely enjoyed it! St the time, a second season was not certain. So I purchased the book. The book was okay and I was happy with the ending, which is all I wanted to know. Now that there will be a season 2, I am curious how closely they will follow the book.

One of my very favorite audio books. I just finished listening for my third time. I LOVE how Liane Moriarty describes the secret thoughts we all have or have known those around us to have. And I just love how Caroline Lee gives such accurate voice to those thoughts. One of the several threads in this book is the subject of domestic violence and the many sick tendrils of affect it has on the partners, children, families, friends and social circles of those nearby. NOW I want to watch the series.

The story became interesting only in mid book. You have to hang in there through the first part that I found quite boring, hence the 3 stars. This is not my genre, however I must admit that the second part kept me hooked, probably because all of the pieces starting to fall in place...So, it's a good reading if you can endure the first uninteresting and fragmented 100 pages or so. The narrator was OK. British accent a bit annoying, but fun nevertheless

I love this book!! I was terribly sad when it ended. As with any book set in a foreign country, you just can't beat a narrated version! Wouldn't have been as fun in my own head. Now to watch the tv series... Although, I have never ever liked a movie/show better than the book.

I've put off reading this novel but finally decided to read it before HBO releases the show. The kindergarten politics in the novel annoyed me and I knew it would which is the reason I put it off. I read The Husband's Secret from Liane Moriarty and I enjoyed that one more. I did enjoy the characters. They were complex and the way they handled their problems felt very real. I also really liked how the author handled some of the more controversial topics. I guessed one of the bigger plot twists right from the beginning. To me it just seemed really obvious. Overall, I was entertained by the story

Profile Avatar

A sparkling and wonderfully engaging examination of upper-class doings in an exclusive Australian beach town that sounds very similar to the U.S. version with its blond bobs, mothers who brunch, soccer dads and untrustworthy nannies. The mystery will keep you guessing and you'll adore the main characters. I havent seen the HBO version so I can't compare it to that. This is a rollicking read perfectly narrated by an outstanding reader.

Profile Avatar

Loved the show and I've just started the book. I can't stand the accent of the reader though. She is not doing a good job at all. I probably won't continue.

Profile Avatar

Overall the book was good! It was a little slow moving at first. Too many characters introduced within the first few minutes. But it all fell together after about 20 minutes. It kept my interest but didn't get exciting until the end when the plot thickens. I'm happy I listened!

Great book. Lots of surprises. Tough subject matter but made funny at times. Very clever writing. Only negative was although the narrator was a good speaker, she didn't match the characters. Her kids voices were so annoying and she sounded like an old lady.

What a good book! I liked the way the author told the story but keeping all the names straight was difficult. the Australian accent was a bit off-putting but you got used to it. I wanted to read this book before I saw the HBO adaptation. I would recommend this book!

Profile Avatar

This was my first book through this app and I must say I enjoyed the experience. Liane Moriarty did an amazing job writing each character out in such detail. Normally this book of this size would have taken me such a long time to read 1) I'm not a big reader to begin with, 2) I lose interest quickly and 3) I'm not normally attracted to this kind of book. This book took me somewhere different and a constant page turner for sure.

Profile Avatar
kimberly SCoggins

I really enjoyed this book. The author did an amazing job of bring these characters to life. I found it very interesting and the rang of emotions were great. Madelyn reminded me of myself. I would highly recommend this book.

Profile Avatar
Doreen Berarducci

Madeline could be my best friend, what a great, real character! As for the other characters, I found myself not so sympathetic with Jane and Celeste. Their story dragged out for too long. I figured out the ending in advance, one small part was a surprise. The narrative at times made me wince. I didn't enjoy when the narrator needed to sound angry or super excited, she ended up sounding screechy. The story wasn't what I expected but it held my attention. I would choose another novel by this author but it wouldn't be the top of my list.

Profile Avatar
Heily A.M

Wasn't as good as What Alice Forgot, but still a good listen. I wish they would have had different narrators for the three different characters; it was difficult for me to keep track of who was who in the beginning.

Profile Avatar

I "read" this book right on the heals of Husbands Secret . I highly recommend both. I love the characters created by LM. Always so human, flawed, and twisty. I've noticed Three Wishes is not as highly rated but I'll give it a go anyway. These books and narriation make me wish I had some friends from Down Under just to hear the speak.

Profile Avatar
Katie Olivares-Perez

This narrator is great! And by starting off with the knowledge that someone is dead, but not who it is or who did it or why, makes it so difficult to stop listening. I NEEDED to know what happened. And every single character pulls on your heartstrings. I feel for all of them. I cannot give this book enough stars!

Profile Avatar
Nelly Navarro-Britt

Love the mystery aspect of it. They talk about a death throughout book, but you don't find out who died until the end. There is a lot of humor for moms & stepfamiles. Narrarator was amazing!

Profile Avatar
Natasha McEuin

I loved this book! Fairly new to a book club so reading is hard for to fit in most days. When I find myself with over due library books I return and will listen to I the remainder to stay current. Very captivating and I think I may be a better listener than reader.

Just love this author and narrator as well. Another great story. Remember your kids first day of school? The clicks that were formed between parents and also children based on social class? This book covers that in detail along with bullying and domestic abuse. While true fiction at its finest, this will resonate with anyone who is a parent.

Profile Avatar

Starts out like a shallow but oh-so-funny gossip rag, but stick with it. The book presents quite a serious subject in a pleasant yet brutal light. Narrator is really enjoyable as well.

Profile Avatar

I was skeptical about this book at first, and I'm not sure why. Perhaps the fact that it takes place in Australia, I thought I couldn't relate. Let me tell you, I could not have been more wrong. This book is incredible. I identified so much with Madeline's issues with her teenage daughter, that it could have been me talking. The brutal and raw honesty was incredible. I could not put this book down. Five stars! Fantastic narration, ordering another book by Liane Moriarty.
