Broken for You

Although I think the plot was convoluted and at times the author tried too hard to be complex, I can't remember when I have met such finely drawn, interesting characters. Huzzah for this author's imagination! The narrator is outstanding....I have encountered her in other selections and always appreciate her. This book is certainly worth your time......

I found this story very hard to get through. The narrator had a sardonic tone to her voice throughout that I found obnoxious and annoying. Her interpretation of the characters voices was incredibly corny. Mrs. Hughes socialite mother sounded exactly like Mrs. Howell on Gilligans Island, and all the other characters were portrayed in a cartoonish, trite way. The narration was so awful I checked the other books on my list to make sure none of them had the same narrator. The story was ok, but the narration ruined it for me.

Wonderful characters, fast paced and loved the narrator

This is a great book. The story is brilliantly woven together like an intricate tapestry. At times, it is a little unbelievable, but I think the author was more focused on symbolism and irony, which made the story work beautifully.

I loved this book. Margaret and Wanda are endearing and I found myself rooting for them at every step. The prose also contains some of the visually-evokative descriptions of events and people that I've read in a while. There are some gems that still make me smile. Read and enjoy...

I got this with the expectation of light enjoyable read. The detail and richness of how this story was written was wonderful. The style and the flavor was exquisite to listen to. I loved the narrator, the emotion of the characters in her voice during dialogue. Although the ending was a little too predictible, I still loved the the detail, description, and the development of the characters. A wonderful surprise!
