Abridged Audiobook
JD is always excellent and this book deserves 5 stars, but abridging any title is a travesty that will never deserve 5 stars. The YV era of Star Wars is probably the best and yet so little of this era has accompanying audiobooks, just like Legacy of the Force. I blame Disney. Maybe my frustration is misplaced, but until the *now* non-cannon series - that are all better than Disney's garbage - get their own audio production my opinion will remain unchanged.
I have only read a few of the post-Star Wars novels. This one, set about 25 years after 'Return of the Jedi', seems a typical example. It has a large cast of characters, perhaps too large for my taste as I would prefer if it was focused more on just a couple. Of course, a lot of development was probably lost in this abridged version. My biggest complaint are the sound effects in all of the Star Wars audiobooks. They are okay during the action sequences, but the continuous background noises are simply distracting. I would rather use my imagination to fill in the details. If you like other Star Wars books, you will probably like this one, too. --- Duane
