Summary
The provocative, incendiary military thriller -- now in paperback!

Danny Wright never thought he'd be the man to bring down the United States of America. In fact, he enlisted in the Idaho National Guard because he wanted to serve his country the way his father did. When the Guard is called up on the governor's orders to police a protest in Boise, it seems like a routine crowd-control mission ... but then Danny's gun misfires, spooking the other soldiers and the already fractious crowd, and by the time the smoke clears, twelve people are dead. The president wants the soldiers arrested. The governor swears to protect them. And as tensions build on both sides, the conflict slowly escalates toward the unthinkable: a second American civil war. With political questions that are popular in American culture yet rare in YA fiction, and a provocative plot that asks what happens when the states are no longer united, Divided We Fall is Trent Reedy's very timely YA debut.

This book was so entertaining! I got it as a free credit, but after about half an hour, I was really into the story. I could imagine myself as a high school guy in a small town because that was me 12 years ago. I also really liked the premise of the book and how the book played audio clips from the radio, news, and had many different voices throughout! I never read fiction, so this was a great way to get back into it. If I get another free credit, I will use it to get the 2nd book in this series! Give it a listen!

Really not my type of book, but since it was free I listened to it. About the only thing I liked about it was the narration. Using different people for different individual characters was very appealing. Other than that I found it too fast paced and geared toward younger readers.

Downloaded the book as part of a free promotion a few weeks ago. Very low expectations and reviews were "so-so". I was pleasantly surprised. I would agree with other reviewers that this is written for the "young adult" reader, however I found the narration very unique and enjoyable. Looking forward to books 2 and 3 in the series.

Not a great story. It was fast paced with lots of excitement. Also had lots of teenage drinking, some rash decision making. The narration was good, but I didn't care for the embellished background sounds . I'm not sure what age group it was specifically written for, but I think it is not appropriate for middle schoolers and don't know any high schoolers who would like it.

I really enjoyed this book. I don't usually enjoy YA fiction but this was on promotion so I thought I'd get it for my son. I decided to listen first, just to make sure it's age appropriate, and was surprised by how much I liked it. The story is well written, characters are developed and interesting. I also liked the "real life" interuptions. That was something new in an audio book and it worked well. The narration is also perfect. I would recommend this book for anyone, not just young adults.

Got to download this book for free and thought it would be corny since it's a YA series. However I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline. In a way it reminded me of the movie Red Dawn (the original), except that the enemies were within the States and vs. Idaho. I remember a few years ago after Obama won for the second time, many states threatened to separate from the Union so this story seemed like a portrayal of what could happen if states tried to stand up. I am also a fan of having some romance in storylines, so I couldn't help but root for Danny to fall for his bff Becka, cause his girlfriend Jobell kind of got on my nerves. I found myself silently yelling to myself over a lot of the decisions Danny made. He was very reactive instead of thinking things through. Sometimes it worked, other times it made matters worse. Why is everyone listening to a 17 year old kid and following his lead??? Drove me nuts at times. I thoroughly enjoyed the music, sound effects and news blips that were added. It made the story come to life so much more. I think it could make a cool movie and I'd be willing to pay 10 bucks for the ticket. Overall it was enjoyable.

I found this to be a fascinating book. I like the way the author expressed multiple viewpoints without taking a clear side. I highly recommend this book. I also enjoyed the narration having background sound and multiple voices made it very enjoyable.

I downloaded this for free. I almost didn't because it is marked as a book for young adults, of which I am not, but so glad that I did. The book and narrator were incredible. The story line and plot kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't want to stop reading.! I now need to down load the second book immediately. I recommend this book to every age/ reader. You will not be disappointed!
