Summary
Great Expectations is written in the first person and is virtually a fictional autobiography of "Pip" from his childhood, through often painful experiences, to adulthood. It charts his progress as he moves from the Kent marshes - his social status radically changed having gained an unknown benefactor - to busy commercial London. The book is richly populated with a variety of extraordinary characters many of whom, unbeknownst to them, have lives that are inextricably linked to the others. It is all there, love, hate, passion, humour, rejection, duplicity, betrayal, a whole gamut of emotions and human strengths and weaknesses . This is one of Dickens most fascinating, and disturbing novels. (Summary by Peter Keeble)

It was wonderful to hear this encouraging story of Pip once again. I last read this 35 or more years ago as a school girl. There is much to learn from the wisdom Pip acquires in this exciting tale. Well read and very enjoyable.

Wonderful novel! Keep trying to keep up with the story!!

Deeply moved and found the narrator was especially skilled in interpreting the historical settings and various personalities beautifully! Read this classic story 50 years ago for a school assignment.

I now know why this is considered a Classic! Great story that surprises at every turn. Clearly Good and Evil characters; however, some of them you could not discern until the very end! Narration was great but I am a sucker for an Englishnaccent.

It was a very long listen, but so enjoyable!!! The narrator had a wonderful voice, changed it with characters, and read using punctuation VERY well. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator! It was wonderful that the entire book was narrated by only one person. This book is a classic that everyone should read. It was absolutely lovely. At times you were happy, sad, angry, shocked...so many emotions. I loved hearing about the mouth - comically referred to as the post office. LOVE THE BOOK...LOVE THE NARRATION.

Enjoyed the book. I love the way Dickens describes every detail to pull the reader into the story. The narrator's skills added to the story. I would highly recommend this reading.

I so enjoyed this novel, particularly the dry humour of Dickens, which was lost on me as a 12-year-old sent home in the summer with a Dickens home reader! Very good narrator. I couldn't stop until I'd finished it!

This might be my favorite book of all time. I expect this absolutely stellar narration only adds to the extraordinary talent of Dickens. If you have not enjoyed a book for awhile, you have a treat in store. This is a kiss the cover book. Thank you for such remarkable voice to these unforgettable characters. Loved it again and will for all my days
