Summary
From the author of the critically acclaimed What Alice Forgot comes a breakout new novel about the secrets husbands and wives keep from each other.Three women. One secret. And a letter that will change everything—forever.

Tess. Rachel. Cecilia. Three women living three very different lives. But when Cecilia opens up a Pandora’s box, their lives will intersect in ways none of them could foresee.

Cecilia is the woman who seems to have it all: a successful career, a gorgeous husband, and three wonderful daughters. One day she finds an old tattered letter in the attic that’s addressed to her, to be opened only in the event of her husband’s death. But he’s still very much alive. When Cecilia casually mentions it to him on the phone, he laughs it off, telling her to put the letter away. Yet when he flies home early from an overseas business trip, and then frantically searches for the letter, Cecilia realizes there’s something important in it, something she needs to know. Yet even Pandora herself could not prepare Cecilia for what the letter reveals.

Kept me interested the whole way! I especially loved the epilogue. We never know how our lives would have ended up with different choices.

Another win for Moriarty, who specializes in gripping, suburban page-turners with a heart. Terrific characters brought to life by the perfect narration.

Definitely not a very exciting book. I had high hopes but there was never anything really big happening. I wasn't into it

Loved the narrator, I could listen to her speak all day. The author weaves a heartwarming heart wrenching story that I couldn't stop listening to. I thought about this book in my dreams and was distracted by thoughts of the characters all day. I could not wait to get back to the book and find out more!

This book was "good" but not great. It took nearly 40 chapters to get to the thrills. And then another 15 chapters thereafter to get to the good stuff. The first 15 chapters are spent giving over amounts of details to too many characters, that ultimately were not part of the story once well into the book. My best description is it was too detailed with too many chapters.. 54 chapters plus an epilogue. I found the epilogue the best part!! Narrator was ok, weak voice, it would have been better to have more than one narrator I think

Not bad. Interesting twists and characters. I bet it would have been better if I had read it opposed to listening to it. The narrator's voice was mousey and whiny most of the time. I should have just read the book.

When hilariously clever meets unbelievably tragic, you’re introduced to Liane Moriarty, and you cannot walk away!

I LOVED this book. it took me a chapter to figure out and follow the various running character stories, but once I got my bearings I couldn't stop listening. And they way they all merged at the end was aMAZing. This is my third Moriarty book and I am officially a big fan. And I just LOVED this narrator, Caroline Lee. So much so that I did a search for other books narrated by her. She's just so spot on with her conversational interpretations and the internal voices and children too. I really enjoyed this read and will come back for more.

I love all Liane Moriarty’s books. She is a great writer and I picture myself right in the story. It’s so vivid and clear. She hasn’t written anything that I don’t like.

Oh...my...gosh. This book was everything I've been wanting to read. SO good. The ending was crazy. The narrator did an excellent job as well. This book really makes you think and I love that. Such a good read!

Really enjoyed this book, makes you wonder how well you really know those you love. A secret like this tormented the guilty, the innocent and the ones who didn't know the truth... But knowing the truth is a heavy burden to carry. I wouldn't have been able to love a husband through something like this.

Very good book. Gets you thinking about whether life is just random chaos or finely planned fate. The reader was excellent and added to the audiobook's enjoyment.

This book is captivating and fun to listen to, although it does start a bit slow. I only wish they would have had different narrators for the different 3 main women characters. I do think Caroline Lee is a good narrator although maybe just a little over the top at times and not really appropriate for every character.

I LOVED this book, so much so that I finished it a couple of days ago and here I am at 2am two days after finishing it, thinking about the characters and wishing I was still reading it! As some other reviews mentioned, I was a bit worried at the beginning with all the multiple character developments, but after the first few chapters I was hooked and couldn’t stop listening. The twists and turns are fantastic, and the narrator does a wonderful job (especially if you love Aussie accents, which I do!). One narrator, Caroline Lee, made me feel as if there were multiple narrators due to how well she did each voice and all the tones and inflections. The book is set in the 2000s but flashes back to the 80s at times, when the main secret and others took place. The book kept me guessing, the ending I didn’t see coming, and the epilogue is truly epic. I love stories (books, movies, anything) where multiple characters’ stories are intertwined at the end. Onto my next purchase by Liane!

Really liked this book, at first, It was hard for me to try and listen to. I wasn’t that interested so much in the first chapter, but as it went on, I found myself wanting to hear more and more. The ending was surprising, but depressing. Idk, I really enjoyed it.

It is annoying in the beginning the character building takes a while . However stick with it , once established it was very good and quite the surprise read. . The narrator is not my favorite, the Aussie accent gets on my nerves a bit.

I loved this book! I have a long commute and audio books make it bearable. This book was so intriguing that I sometimes listened when I wasm't driving! It didn't hold back on some real life, real relationship problems and dilemmas. The narrator was fantastic; I loved her voice and the inflections and tones...she constantly varied them and was not "flat" or monotone like many other narrators.

I read the reviews and I was hoping that the book would be better. It was good. I really didn't like the narrator thought. That's just my preference I don't like British accents for narrating.

It took a few chapters for me to get into the story, but once I did, I totally enjoyed this book. The narrator got on my nerves at first, but again, after a few chapters, I loved her! Great story... The characters and story line flowed together seamlessly with many surprising and unexpected twists along the way. I can usually start to get a feel for how a book may end but this one left me anxiously unknowing and couldn't wait to figure out what happens. The narrator was decent. I wasn't sure about her at first but really grew on me and book progressed.

I liked the book. The author kept it moving and would end the chapters just as it got interesting and to keep one coming back for more. It is a story of how 3 different lives intertwine and makes you wonder how other people perceive you. I thought the narrator did an excellent job of distinguishing the different characters.

Profile Avatar

I loved this book! I was hooked from the beginning! The author created wonderful characters with depth, humor and great understanding of their emotions when faced with the twists and turns of the plot ( which was oh so intriguing). I also loved the reader, the characters really sprang to life through her voice. I was so impressed I downloaded another book "Big Little Lies" by the same author and reader and am loving it just as much!

Profile Avatar

I loved this! Great intertwined stories and the narrator is exceptional!

Profile Avatar
Paula Emeigh

This was so much better then I expected it to be, from the excellent narration to the story line. Without giving anything away you might think by the title that it might be a secret of infidelity. What turns out to be pretty early on the revelation of his secret isn't the most important part of the story, but how it all ties in together and the decisions that have to be made once it's revealed. Definitely worth listening to or reading!

Profile Avatar
