Summary
It’s a dreary February in post-World War I London when Mrs. Wilkins spots an advertisement in The Times for a small Italian castle for rent in April. She sees another member of her women’s club, Mrs. Arbuthnot, reading the same advertisement and manages to convince her that the two of them should rent it. Both are miserable and lonely in their marriages. They can’t afford the cost of the villa, San Salvatore, on their own and must advertise for two others, eventually recruiting an elderly widow named Mrs. Fisher, and Lady Caroline Dester, a beautiful young socialite desperate to escape from London and society. The four journey to Italy where San Salvatore works its magic separately on each of them, changing their lives in unexpected ways. (Summary by Diana Kiesners)

This was such a lovely book, and Diana Keisner is a joy to listen to. Her voice is so calm and clear - perfect for this gentle story.

Gave it three hours. All I could do. Wasted 3 hours of my time.

Not a book I could get into; low key n somewhat depressing. A combination of the narration also. The reviews were good so perhaps it’s my state of mind at this time of COVID.

I listen while I walk every night. The story kept me interested and I could easily visualize San Salvatore and the four main characters. I enjoyed the story and the reader was quite good although I could hear her turning the page every now and then. I would give it a thumbs up! Now I will watch the movie.

I enjoyed the story because it was so uplifting. The narration was choppy at times and I could hear some breathing and page turning. The repetitive publishing information at the beginning of every chapter was disturbing. I will likely refrain from listening to books by LibriVox in the future.

Again narrators are not good, a couple were ok.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was an improbable story but very charming and optimistic. The reader was perfect.
