Unabridged Audiobook
The book is interesting in the context of its time of writing. It gave very little sense of the common person's situation, being mainly a "book of kings". It is a good basis for listening to more modern history. It also helps the reader understand the historical basis of the wars that plagued Europe up through the 1st world war. It is also an excellent example of the craft of writing complex sentences while not confounding the the reader. Narration was very uneven, as one could expect from volunteer readers. Some were excellent, some were difficult to listen to as they had little sense of the cadence of the author's English. I thank them all for their efforts.
