The Shining

I've always liked Stephen King's books and don't know why it took me so long to listen to THE SHINING. I was fully engaged from the start. Loved it! It was an engaging story with well drawn characters as only King can do it. There was a blizzard scene that actually "chilled" me on a hot summer day. I was so impressed with this book that now I'm listening to other works by King that I've missed.

I was pleased with Mr. King's literary style. Although his works are usually classed as "horror", I was surprised that he is able to deliver a story that can keep the reader to the end without raising the blood level to the point of one's putting the book down without finishing. It is too bad that his ability to spin a tale is not translated to the theater screen as it should be.

A flawless reading performance by Campbell Scott for a flawless work of modern horror by Stephen King. A truly excellent listen.

What can be said that has not been said. I read this book some 25 years ago and listened to it again. It was awesome both times. I am so glad that A lot more Of Kings older classics are coming out on audio.

I thought this book was excellent- and Campbell Scott is my favorite narrator- I seek his work out. He can really capture the tone and tempo of the author. This is on of my favorite King books.I enjoy having his work read to me - like a creepy bedtime story -
