August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school-until now. He's about to enter fifth grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid, then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances? R. J. Palacio has crafted an uplifting novel full of wonderfully realistic family interactions, lively school scenes, and writing that shines with spare emotional power. "Wonder is a book with such a big, wide heart- it shows how we are all fragile, imperfect, and perfectly beautiful creatures. A wonderful novel by a wonder of a writer!" - Julia Alvarez, author of Return to Sender, Before We Were Free, Finding Miracles, and the Tía Lola Stories

I'm thought I probably wasn't going to like but guess what I loved it I'm going to middle school and that gave me confidence to not be afraid anymore.

Love this book!!!! Empathy for the underdog! The narration of the main character is terrible! Almost unbearable to listen to. The other characters are really good!!!

I am a 5th grade Language Arts teacher and read a lot of young adult novels to share with my students. This is the best book I have read in 10 years. I strongly encourage very middle school student to read this book. It has the power to challenge the way you see the world and your relationships with others. The world needs more Auggies!

Our kids (6 and 9) were so into this book that as soon as we got into the car they demanded we listen to the book. They loved the voices of each character and we listened to it as a family. Very educational book - lots of serious social topics for us to discuss together.

  • Steve Dubravac

My expectations may have been too high based on the NYT best seller list... preachy, and a bit babyish for middle schoolers. The narrator's raspy voice was forced -- not a pleasurable listen.

  • Guy Waldron

Great book for 11 year olds a little babyish but good

  • Maria Reyes

Our kids had read this book previously, but given how much we all loved it, we decided to download it for a long road trip this past week. The audio is awesome and tremendously moving! Our kids were begging us to play it and their road trip screen time was at an all time low! It was amazing and really enhanced our trip! Thank you soooo very much for this awesome and very easy to use technology!
