Summary
Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an 'escalator world', one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.
How do successful people stay focused and achieve results? This lively and insightful guide presents a simple program for taking the stairs - that is, for overcoming the temptations of quick fixes and procrastination, conquering creative avoidance, and transcending personal setbacks in order to tackle the work that leads to real success. Whatever your goals are, Rory Vaden's proven approach will get you there - one stair at a time.

If you are someone who knows what to do to be successful but need a kick in the pants to get going and get in the habit of doing the right thing even if you don’t feel like it, read this book! Once you understand why you should take the stairs instead of riding the escalator you will be motivated!

Lots of good tips on how to stay focused, recognizing that the short-term “easier” approach isn’t always the best solution in the long-term.

Yes it is common sense which is largely uncommon. It is delivered straightforward and effectively. I did not mind the narrators voice and I appreciated the little antidotes he used to bring his point home. Easy listen and I will probably listen again. I have not looked at the extras that come with the book I’m sure I will gain insight… Easy little mantras that I have started saying to myself

Love the book, it all makes sense. I like the full-time, part-time for a full-time free time idea. This book was written for a purpose and God has a purpose for everything.

Very preachy, I felt like I was in an evangelical church and the preacher was talking. I go NO information that I could use out of this. Very cliche.
