Fated

The story is a complete ripoff of The Dresden Files. And mentioning “…a wizard in Chicago” in the first chapter doesn’t make it an homage instead of a rip-off. The women are portrayed as silly, stupid, flighty, overly emotional, nonsensical, and basically every misogynistic cliche in the book (haha), including needing the male protagonist to talk sense into them. As for the narrator, I usually find a voice with an English accent pleasant, but there is something grating about this narrator. His intonation and emphasis seems out of place throughout a good portion of the book. He sounds lighthearted and almost jovial in scenes that are serious, is loud when it should be reserved, all of the characters have different voices, but sound like they all have the same personality, and worst of all plays the women as overly high-pitched ninnies. Can not un-recommend enough. My apologies to the author and narrator, it’s not meant to be personal.
