An incredible story and wonderful narrator. McCarthy's words resonated with me long after I finished. Highly recommend.

The end of the world - we dont know why nor for the survivors what hope is left for a possible future. Awful with no beginning nor end but beautifully written, poetry.

I suffered through the whiney banter trying to empathize with Papa and his dilemma.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, such as the subject matter was. I gave both narrator and author 5 stars. The theme of care between the man and the young boy took you through many a sweet and sad journey.

This book won't fall out of my mind. I have read a lot of dystopian fiction so these moments, these trials aren't that new to me. Framed though, in one man's journey to find a safe place for his son, the base questions of what is humanity, what is community, and how can we trust are central to my understanding of this book. Left me sad at the end but feeling hopeful. Beautifully written. Highly recommend.

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. It's a heartbreaking story of a fathers love for his son. However, some of the motivations of the father in the book are lost on me. It's definitely a books that I would listen to again!

I had watched the movie several times through the years. The book is a spell-binder. I felt like I was walking the road with these two characters as they continue to adapt and adjust to the challenges. It made me think about the future of mankind if the leaders elected to go down the path of destruction of mankind. It speaks to the ability of a father and son who are driven by their love as they deal with their fears. A remarkable book and story.

I enjoyed the book and wanted to k ow what happens next. It was dreary and hard to listen to given the setting but the relationship between the ‘near perfect’ father and pure, innocent child was wonderful to discover. Narrative writing at its best- very descriptive scenes- you can feel their emotions. I was wondering how it would end and although the culmination was evident, it didn’t disappoint me.

I’m not sure how this book is award winning. I found it boarding and monotonous. Yes I get it’s a story about the end of the world and survival. Blah,blah,blah. But there was so much room to make this a very good book. The narration was flat and monotone. I found myself tuning out

I had high expectations for this but found it a bit too slow and repetitive. However the world building and characters were well fleshed out and kept me engaged.

I wanted to like this book and had pretty high expectations but it was difficult to follow along with, the overuse and repetitive nature of his descriptions and comparisons made it dull to listen to. I didn't love the narrator's voice either if I am being totally honest.

Didn’t know what to expect, I think I’ve seen a part of the film so perhaps that’s what pricked my interest. I thought it was a great listen. Heart wrenching and heart warming. I thought the narration was spot on for this book. How a short period of time of two fictitious peoples lives in a fictitious time can keep me so wrapped is amazing.

A truly grim world depicted in this book. Really makes you think about what is 'living' as opposed to just 'surviving'. Enjoyed it a lot. Way better than the movie.

A difficult and haunting book to read, not my typical genre but in the end I’m glad I read it. McCarthy explores the human response when everything is ending, and in particular, the focus is on a father and son. I’d recommend it if you like end of the world science fiction.

This is one of my favourite books and movies! I am a huge dystopian fan! This book is heartbreaking, sad and hopeful. I am a blubbering mess at the end of this book and movie! I have read it many times and it still gets me! This book is definitely worth the read and the narrator does a great job!

Dark, depressing ,powerful, a nightmare for most people , with little hope of salvation . The slow and anguishing walk through the country , with only misery behind , and a drive with scant hope pushing them on. A story that stays with you for a long time after you stop listening.

The book is as haunting as the movie. I remember how Shook I was coming out of the theater watching the movie years ago, this was not as bad, but you certainly feel it!

Very dull read but had it see it thru to the end to see what happened. Waste of my time. Very disappointed

Just completed the novel. The author portrayed the relationship of the father and his son so beautifully. Even in the worst of times, it is love and compassion which helps you to go on. You are alive as long as you have “the fire in you”.

Pulp fiction

Had a bit of a hard time following because of the narration as well as because of my lack of interest in this book

Not for the faint of heart! Unless you are willing to face desolation and hopelessness, this is not for you. For the courageous, however, this is a story that I found moving on many levels. The narration was spot on perfect for the story.

Found this book to be a misery to listen to. For me there was no beginning, no ending, and no point to the long depressing words of nothing.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat. The hopelessness of the characters' situation made me really appreciate what I have and inspired me to think about what I would do if I lost it all. The father and son relationship is beautifully done and very believable.

Give this one a chance, I'm glad I did. Still not completely sure how I feel about it - it's different than most of the books I've read - kind of dark and always uncertain, but it made me think and it made me feel and it made me want to know how it ended. It's not a 'zombie' book, but it sort of has that feel - an almost empty world, struggles to survive, hardships, sacrifice, and determination.
