Summary
“I loved it.' —Stephen King

From Jason Rekulak, Edgar-nominated author of The Impossible Fortress, comes a wildly inventive spin on the classic horror story in Hidden Pictures, a supernatural thriller about a woman working as a nanny for a young boy with strange and disturbing secrets.

Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy.

Mallory immediately loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Then, Teddy’s artwork becomes increasingly sinister, and his stick figures quickly evolve into lifelike sketches well beyond the ability of any five-year-old. Mallory begins to wonder if these are glimpses of a long-unsolved murder, perhaps relayed by a supernatural force.

Knowing just how crazy it all sounds, Mallory nevertheless sets out to decipher the images and save Teddy before it’s too late.

this book was actually so bad that it made me angry. I really had to force my way through it. the writing is juvenile at best. the plot line at the end is all over the place—like the author is trying to cram as much into the ending as possible. there is a twist that I didn’t see coming but the whole thing was executed poorly. I found myself rolling my eyes constantly while listening.

It was good, interesting, I finished it quickly and wanted to know what happened next, kind of confusing at points but overall a good read/listen.

This book had me so entertained the entire time. There was never a dull moment in this book and I loved every second of it! The narrator also did a very good job at portraying the characters emotions and voices. 100/10 recommend!! I loved this book from beginning to its outstanding end!

Easy read, well paced and dynamic... But It absolutely jumped the shark in the third act, it was silly, almost ridiculous. Also, it has a few points that toe too close to anti-trans narrative for my liking, that was a bit of a yikes being honest. Still, I wasn't bored so there's that!

Amazing book! I just put it on as background noise, while I did homework, but soon my homework was forgotten about as all my focus went to the story

Ugh this was a slow burn that kept me hanging in waiting so patiently for something way more extreme. The story was good enough but some of the story was open ended and just confusing. Like the testing? What. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the narrative I’m personally not a big fan of different voices for characters. But overall it wasn’t too bad.
