Summary
From New York Times bestselling author Orson Scott Card, Ender's Game—adapted to film in 2013 starring Asa Butterfield and Harrison Ford—is the classic Hugo and Nebula award-winning science fiction novel of a young boy's recruitment into the midst of an interstellar war.

In order to develop a secure defense against a hostile alien race's next attack, government agencies breed child geniuses and train them as soldiers. A brilliant young boy, Andrew 'Ender' Wiggin lives with his kind but distant parents, his sadistic brother Peter, and the person he loves more than anyone else, his sister Valentine. Peter and Valentine were candidates for the soldier-training program but didn't make the cut—young Ender is the Wiggin drafted to the orbiting Battle School for rigorous military training.

Ender's skills make him a leader in school and respected in the Battle Room, where children play at mock battles in zero gravity. Yet growing up in an artificial community of young soldiers Ender suffers greatly from isolation, rivalry from his peers, pressure from the adult teachers, and an unsettling fear of the alien invaders. His psychological battles include loneliness, fear that he is becoming like the cruel brother he remembers, and fanning the flames of devotion to his beloved sister.

Is Ender the general Earth needs? But Ender is not the only result of the genetic experiments. The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Ender's two older siblings are every bit as unusual as he is, but in very different ways. Between the three of them lie the abilities to remake a world. If, that is, the world survives.

Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game is the winner of the 1985 Nebula Award for Best Novel and the 1986 Hugo Award for Best Novel.

This book is simply bad, which is hard because I read the whole series through as a kid and thought them great books, right up to the final cliffhanger. I decided, as an adult that I would finish the series and listen to the final book after consuming them anew, maybe a decade and some change later. Four hours in on the first book and I can't... none of the story makes any sense. What does make sense is cringe, like the repeated unnecessary mention of naked children. There are a lot of those weird offhand quotes, not just vaguely pedo either. Some of them are homophobic, but most I've caught so far are about this weird Christian persicution theme on top of heavy anti semitism buried within off handed dialogue. FROM ADOLESCENT CHILDREN. Ender, humanity's "Chosen One" is basically a Marty Sue out the gate. No mistakes, all the disadvantages stacked against them, knows virtually everything at 6, and is determined to fight a war from before they where born. Then, at 6 Ender gets groomed by militaristic predators who boast about how they are "using" these children, repeatedly. Why? I give this 1 star because I legitimately feel dirty after rereading this.

This is by far my favorite book. I've listened to it at least 4 times already and I also have a hard copy that I've read. Perfectly written, perfectly narrated.

My favourite part of this entire reading is the post script by Orson himself. Nothing is better than listening to author himself explaining what went into his creating of the book and discussing his views on the subject matter. A delight to listen to and always a wonderful tale to hear.

I originally read this book in middle school and feel in love with the book. I wanted to go to Battle School. I was very disappointed in the movie since it was NO WHERE near true to the book. I enjoyed this reading since ight was unabridged and complete. I enjoyed the commentary by the author who help give more understanding to the story. I did not like when the narrator changed to a different person. I liked the ddifferent voices with the conversations at the beginning of the chapters, but not the change in narrators for different sections.

Great book, excellent narration. The voice narrator for Valentine was a little obnoxious as she laid heavily into the (baby-voice) which I find very annoying. Everything else was well worth the listen!!

Really good listen. Much better than the movie (obviously) and the plot and narration really keeps you into the story from beginning to end. There were times when it would slow down a bit, and it took a little to get used to the narration, but when after a small adjustment it swept you up into the story

While I watched the movie before the book I thought that the movie was good, now having listened to the book, I have now changed my opinion. The movie vastly undersells this masterpiece. I found myself hooked on every word. This is definitely worth listening to.

This is probably my all-time favorite book. I've listened to it three times. We come to truly care for Ender and our emotions are pulled to despair as we see what he's going though. We admire him for his brilliance and goodness. We are blown away by the ending. Amazing book. There is a political sub-plot involving his brother and sister which I don't care for, though. The second and third times I listened, I skipped all of that, which made it perfect. The narrators were excellent. Only one of them in a minor role was a little flat. Stay tuned afterwards for a talk by the author.

This is an excellent sci-fi novel, highly reccomended. Do not watch the movie, its terrible, you will kick yourself and hate what they have done to it. The book is well written and lets you be in Ender's mind.

I chose this book because of the author. I was shocked at how vulgar and crude it was. It was terrible. I will avoid this author in the future. He's been totally corupted. I did not finish the book.

This was an excellent Audio book. A narrator can make or break a story, The narrator in this case complimented the book excellently. Can't wait to start the other books in this series.

I don't get it. I listened to this book because of the overwhelming positive reviews. First of all the book is totally unbelievable. What boy at six can speak that way and I could barely stay awake. Disappointed!!!!
