Summary
Layton Morris and his brother Mike grew up not knowing what it would be like to live in a normal home. With no running water or electricity in their home and no parents around to protect them, they quickly learned how to survive and depend only on each other.

When a tragic accident took Mike away from Layton and the only other person that he ever let into his heart walked away from him, leaving his heart shattered, Layton focused all of his time and energy into the ranch he and his brother dreamed of. He made a vow to himself to never let love in again. The last thing Layton needed or wanted was more heartache.

Whitley Reynolds grew up in a privileged home in upstate New York. When she landed the star football player in high school no one was surprised, not even Whitley. She dreamed of a life with Roger in New York City and happily followed him there.

The first time Roger hit her for arguing with him about a dinner party, she forgave him. The more it happened, the further Whitley withdrew from her friends and family. One fateful day things got too far. Whitley made a promise to herself and found the courage to do the one thing she thought she'd never be able to do.

Fleeing with her best friend, Courtney, Whitley was determined to put her past behind her and start a new life in the small town of Llano, Texas, where no one would ever find out about her past.

Will Layton and Whitley learn to trust and love again, or will their pasts come back to haunt them, keeping them both alone and broken?

The book had potential to be a lovely story of young love. The swearing and foul language were a bit much. Especially from the female characters. I found it unnecessary. It didn't add anything extra to the story.

I generally really liked this book, more than I thought I would have. The story was quite good and I wasn't disappointed. The only issue is that I did not enjoy the epilogue, it kind of wrecked it for me a bit. I found Nelson to be a good narrator and would have given him a 5, however Shirl was average and I would have given her a 3, so I landed on a 4 for narration.

Listened for less than 5 minutes then turned it off. language was the main reason...followed by too much sexual innuendo. I wanted a plot, not porn.

too much swearing and foul language. The "F" word is used in every sentence it seems. what a waste of a credit!!!!

I love Kelly Elliott and Nelson Hobbs does a fantastic Texican voice. Deep and rich with just a bit of the southern tang. I enjoy the depth of character she creates making them the perfect combination of real and fantasy.

I found myself rolling my eyes a lot. I do believe people can fall in love quicker (personal opinion) but this was cheesy. It was not a terrible book just super cheesy. The girl narrator I was not fond of. I don’t know why but she just wasn’t my favorite. The guy was fine though.

I am not sure if the narration added to the cheesiness of this story. Felt the plot could have been more or deeper if the angle of the absentee father had been developed but just hated the airheadness (if that's a word) of the narration.

I really enjoyed the storyline, but I thought the book to be a little too graphic for my taste. However, that being said, I would love to know what happens to Whitley’s best friend. I may purchase the book that involves her story since there are hints about a high school past relationship and a potential future with Leoghton’s best friend.

I really enjoyed the book. It didn’t have any slow parts. The girls voice was a little weird at first. The guys voice was fantastic. Now I’m listening to the 2nd book.

So much porn it was boring. It was both predictable and sappy as well. Skipped over parts of it. Was not interesting enough to finish.

I liked the book. The foul language did not bother me. I enjoyed the love story and used my next credit for book two.

Goodness. So many f words...what could be worse? F words with a horrible southern accent. I liked the guy's voice other than that. But the girl's voice? Ugh. It was a miracle I could get thru this audio! Not to be mean, but does she wear a retainer? And at times it was like she had a "valley girl" accent. Very annoying. And if I heard the phrases, "in my whole entire life", "in my whole life", "in my entire life", etc, ...one more time, I was going to turn it off! Lol. I mean, who wrote this, an 18 year old? It wasn't a bad plot and parts were funny but I will be deleting this audio not wanting this to take up ANY space.
