It's just WW2 in space. I mean that it is LITERALLY just WW2 in space. If that is something that you like then this book is for you! Otherwise stay away. I admitt I stopped listening after 3 hours. There was no point, I know how what happened i WW2 so I know what will happen in this book. It is obvious that the idea of the book is to "copy" WW2 and I guess it succeeds in that. It is just not for me. SPOILERS So the story in the book is that a space nation was beaten by other space nations in a great war (WW1). The losing nation got restrictions under the peace treaty regarding their army and technology (the versaille treaty). The losing nation makes a creative army and develope new strategies and tactics since they lost the war. (Germany). The losing country becomes facist, (nazis). They attack their neighbour the space republic (France), circumventing their huge static defense meteor (the maginot line). On a planet is an expeditionary force from "the kingdom" (UK). It needs to be extracted from the planet and they recruit lots of civilian vessels to do this. It can be pulled of because the facists slow their advance to let their airforce deal with the expeditionary force. (Dunkirk). Oh and of course the facists have developed "Stealth ships" (U-boats). After this I was done.

Gripping book with blistering space and planetside fight scenes. A multitude of character perspectives that converge quite nicely.
