The story line wasn’t bad, however I did find the actions of the characters to be so overly dramatic. I do understand that some issues are extremely intense, but all this tip toe and codling of Isabelle, holding her like a baby pissed at Axel and all he did was show up..... was ridiculous. I enjoyed the female narrator, but every time the male narrator started I let out a sigh and rolled my eyes. These are suppose to be some big buffed strong military/security investigator men but the male narrative voice used sounded like rocky the gangster played by bugs bunny on a looney tunes cartoon episode. I was annoyed the same male narrator was used in every book.... it was frustrating. It would’ve been better to use the female narrator for the entire book.

I liked getting to know a group of characters which is setting up for future stories. There are some annoying character inconsistencies but I didn't come looking for great literature and it was an enjoyable and pacey listen.

The story was good. The female character was too weak though. They coddled her like a baby for too much of the story. The female narrator was so cringe. At parts, I could barely hear her, then I had to adjust the volume when the male narrator spoke. The accent used for the African American hairdresser was horrendous. The storyline was good but the follow thru was poor.

Good story that deals with some very difficult issues. I may not have selected this particular male narrator for this book even though I do like his voice in other books. It came across a bit more whiney than tough. Love Dilbert/Sway!

It was slow going for me at first, wasn’t sure I would like it. By chapter 5 though, I was hooked and glad I stuck out!

Enjoyed this second chance romance. Axel was a great character and I liked he had to work to win back his love. Story moved along nicely, there were plenty of secondary characters fleshing out the story. Sway’s character was waaaaay OTT and stereotypical which annoyed me slightly. With the principal characters there was character development and the performance by the narrator added to the story. This is first in a series but each are stand alone - reading the others gives a more fleshed out look at the group of friends

Good story. Mushy, overly dramatic but nice. Really don’t like the nasally voice of the male narrator. Sorry, not masculine at all. Female voice perfect for the character.

****SPOILERS BELOW**** I liked the story once it finally got started. The main male character was a bit too angry with a former girlfriend that supposedly left him over 12 yrs ago, He was way to disrespectful and pushy for a guy that wanted nothing to do with her, then his attraction became known. That part of the book seemed slightly unrealistic - can't stand her but take her home to your house and force her to talk about something that happened 12 yrs ago...The female character's childhood wasn't clear or what type of person she was before the main male character left for the Service so her weak disposition just bored me. She was babied by so many people about a loss of love and a child, almost crippling sadness made me potty her, not like her. The reasons she was disconnected took a very long time to get explained. It seemed to take a long time to get to the history of the two main characters. It finally came together. I'd say it was long winded in parts but worth the 2-1 credit. I did like the other characters enough that I will try the other books in the series to see if I like them better. Wish me luck!!
