Summary
Grieving the death of his partner, Theo Bosco has no room in his life for distractions. Though his instincts scream that he should avoid Juliet 'Jules' Jackson, he can't seem to stay away. It doesn't help that Theo's new K9 companion has fallen head over paws with Jules's rambunctious family.

Or that when he's with her, Theo finally knows peace.

When Jules rescued her siblings, whisking them away to the safety of the beautifully rugged Colorado Rockies, she never expected to catch the eye-or the heart-of a cop. Yet as Jules struggles to fight her growing attraction to the brooding K9 officer, another threat lurks much closer to home . . .

And this time, there's no escape.

This is the first book I've read (actually listened to) by this author and I can't wait to read more. First off the narrator did a fabulous job. She made it easy to differentiate between the different characters. Secondly, the book is well written. The characters are well-rounded and believable. and there is a good balance of humor, suspense, and action. I have to admit I guessed who the villain was about 2/3rds of the way through the book. But there was that little bit of doubt. And even though I guessed who, I was off on the what and why. Overall, I was completely submerged in the story and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book, the author, and the narrator.

This book wasn’t what I was expecting. So it starts off with a great escape and then there is a constant worry about the consequences of such escape the entire book. Meanwhile, the lead male is dealing with the loss of his K9 partner and is breaking in his former human partner’s (whom has also died) K9 partner and both surviving officers are not in the right frame of mind. I have to say that I fell in love with the lead female and her siblings from the beginning. Their relationship was strong and supportive and challenging at certain moments. They fear anyone coming into their little bubble and definitely fear the handsome cop whom has taking a liking to their older sister. Jules and Theo have chemistry but it’s nothing to write home about. It’s just kind of there and feels almost forced. Almost, like, there’s no one else around, might as well get with this person. There were some weird situations that occurred that weren’t really explained away, not even after the plot was revealed so I have to say, this book is not my favorite of the few I’ve read from KR. Though I like the idea of a K9 series, and I’m curious about the new character introduced in the epilogue so I’ll continue with the series.

I felt like I was dropped right into the middle of book 2? I feel like you’re supposed to have more understanding before starting this series - though I’ve read Katie Ruggle’s previous series so that’s not it. Either way, I’m left a bit confused.

I enjoy Katie Ruggle’s stories quite a bit. The narrator in the Search and Rescue series was wonderful, this one not so much but I’m still going to listen to the entire series.
