Summary
Mya's world is falling apart. After a series of earthquakes, deadly animals with glowing red eyes begin attacking people and start the spread of a zombie-like plague. Safety is just a memory as she tries to make her way home. When a different creature attacks the people helping her reach Oklahoma City, Mya is sure she'll never see the light of another day.

Despite his eerie green eyes and very sharp teeth, the grey-skinned creature is more intelligent and humanlike than he first appears. He's determined to keep Mya by his side and protect her from the new world's dangers. When his path starts taking her further away from home, she must choose between safety and her family.

Contains mature themes.

This book had a lot of potential. The idea of a zombie apocalypse in a ROMANCE was so intriguing and I loved how it started. There was horror and mystery and a lot of hysteria. Then all of a sudden there are devil did and gray men coming from what seemed like beneath the Earth's surface and of course there's mayhem. There's Mya, who is on this mission to head to her family home from her dorm to make sure her family is ok but the military has evacuated the campus. She ends up leaving with some guys after the base is compromised. Then the men, she's traveling with is attacked by a gray man. That gray man, Drav, however decides to fondle her. Because apparently where he comes from, there are no women. They travel together, with her in fear and trying to escape but also realizing he's keeping her safe from the zombies. The book drags on for several hours with a clear language barrier because Drav doesn't know English but learns by hearing her speak. Mya is trying to figure out what happened. Everyone believes it's the gray men's fault for the apocalypse and the devil dogs but something is not right. So after, six audio hours… while the two are closer maybe even friends. There's no romance and the story is not over… it's a freaking trilogy. Why do I get myself caught up in these books?...

Really enjoyed this book. Both the story and narration are done well.

I like this story a lot. It is very entertaining. Mya’s a college student. After several earthquakes, her world is falling apart as animals with red eyes begin attacking people and start the spread of an infection that is zombie-like. Mya decides to try to make her way home from college to make sure that her family is ok. Some people help her on her way but another creature attacks them leaving Mya sure that she's going to die. The grey-skinned pointy-eared creature with green/yellow eyes and sharp teeth seems to be more human than he seemed at first. As the two spend more time together, Mya discovers that he is also intelligent and protective. He tells her he will keep her safe and take her home, but can she trust that he will do as he says? This is a great introduction to this new series, but be aware that it ends in a cliffhanger! (I hate cliffhangers but since the other books in the series are already out, I will make an exception with this book!) This story had me laughing so hard at parts that I almost cried. There are a lot of feels in this story. It's very mild in terms of language and sexual content as this is kind of a hi, how are you, please don't eat me book. I recommend reading this book. Or listening to it! I own an ebook copy as well as an audio copy.

I do like the story actually quite a bit, and it keeps you drawn in. I just wish the main female character wasn’t so bitter and selfish all the time. She could do with a lot less complaining. I know a lot has happened and it’s crazy with the whole world changing, but she really does get annoying sometimes.
