Unabridged Audiobook
This is an utterly charming story that manages to be sweet and cozy without ever getting treacly. I often find myself avoiding cozy mysteries because I love them, but it's hard to find really well-written ones that don't get overly arch or saccharine. This is a perfect example of the type. Fowler writes with a light hand while delivering everything you want in terms of cuteness, sweetness and utter charm. All the ingredients to make a lover of cozy mysteries happy are here: A likeable heroine, her wisecracking best friend, a charming small town, a tall, dark and handsome detective, chocolates, a polka-dot pig and a cute kitty. There's no violence (the murder happens "offscreen"), no gratuitous anything, just a wonderful, well-told story that is the perfect antidote to a dark day.
Enjoyed the story, setting, characters, and plot. The narrator did an excellent job!
