Wonderful pace, great voices, quirky accents and what a bittersweet, realistic yet utterly romantic story! Thanks so much!!!
This book was so incredibly beautiful. The vivid descriptions of the scenery, the depth of emotion and the raw truth in topics like race and socio-economics was powerful. I really, really loved this book. And the narration was fantastic.
Ngozi doesn't disappoint and the narration is excellent.
Great Story Excellent Narration
So often during this book, I actually forgot it was a work of fiction - the writing is that richly realistic. The main characters are entirely believable, humanly flawed and absolutely unforgettable. Efem is a powerful female protagonist with a strong feminist voice. I learned a lot about the nuances of life in Nigeria, and was given quite a lot to think about in terms of racism in America, gender inequality and socio-economics. Read this to at once be lost and yet completely plugged in.
Interesting storyline but found the narrator a real turn off. Couldn’t finish listening because of that
I started to read this book but found it quite slow to get started. It had been recommended by friends and I was keen to give it another shot so I got the audiobook. The narrator, Adjoa Andoh, was fantastic and kept me gripped throughout. Her different accents and the correct pronunciations made it a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommend.
