Summary:

Thirteen-year-old Angel Sullivan falls in love with her family's new home - the house that stands at Black Creek Crossing in the small town of Roundtree, Massachusetts. But the idyll is soon shattered as Angel learns a shocking secret about the house. It seems that a double murder took place there, and no one has lived at Black Creek Crossing since. As Angel and her family begin to confront the mounting perils in their new dwelling, increasingly bizarre events occur in Roundtree: terrible storms strike; seemingly inexplicable "accidents" transpire; and rumors of witchcraft, a phenomenon that figured in the town's history hundreds of years earlier, begin to resurface...

the book was very good, held my interest, couldnt wait to continue listening the next day. The ending was too abrupt, kinda leaves you thinking that it should have had more of a prelude to the finish. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE READER, DICK HILL, i think i would listen to a book just because he was reading it, he adds so much expression and excitement to the story.

This book reminds me of the intro to Blaze by Stephen King. He talks about how sometimes authors put so much suffering in a story that the reader becomes immune to the characters. This is one of those stories. Way too much drama. About a disk or two in you just stop caring about the kids. I almost started taking bets as to what disaster was going to happen to the kids next. Skip it.

It's been a while since I've read John Saul. Always liked his books! I wasn't dissappointed with this one. The story was good, but the ending kind of left you hanging. Almost like he didn't know where to go with it. I didn't like the reader at all! If not for him I would have given this book a 5.

I enjoyed John Saul when I was a teenager so I thought I would try him again...a mistake I won't make twice. THis book was overwrought and relentlessly depressing. The reader tried for too much drama and the ending seemed contrived and hurried. I do NOT recommend this book.

I could not stand the reader....couldn't get through the first 30 min. of it.

This book was a little disappointing. It reads more as a juvenile selection and the ending was horrible and shocking! The mystery in the story was good but at times too far fetched to keep me interested. It also brings out the pain of bullying which is another too-common topic suffered by today's teen-age society which needs to be taken more seriously.
