One of a kind book describing a history of a single, famous Legion.

Phenominal read. Expertly done in every way. Great reader, with excellent tone, tempo and flare! I listened to the CD twice. I learned a lot of meaningful information about the Roman Legions. It is all historically based, but was just as enjoyable as a fiction novel. I wish there were many more like this one.

We have all heard of Caesar and seen movies and clips of his day and time but in this book, the author (historian) brings Caesar's era to life - all with historical accuracy. Since we only live one life on this earth, it is fascinating to see how others lived centuries ago. Soldiers of long ago lived lives we can not even imagine. They were men who looked death in the face over and over again, enduring hardship for years at a time. Having heard this book, I feel as if I served under Caesar and now understand what it was like in that day. The reader has the perfect voice and vocal skills to make this book gripping. It is also easys to follow, despite the many names of people and places. The author keeps you on track from start to finish. This book will be fascinating to anyone with an interest in the past and a desire to know what it was really like during the days of Caesar. The conflict, emotion, strategy - these men were sophisticated masters of their trade. Five Stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book and found it absolutely fascinating from start to finish. It’s historical in nature so it’s not like listening to a novel but it covers a fascinating time in world history and one of the most famous of all historical characters in a way that draws you in. I highly recommend this book.
