Some minor elements of fact to it, like any good fabrication. But if you believe this book's premise, then you'd believe that one congressman ran the entire Afghan effort while President Reagan slept through the whole thing, totally unaware of it. Of course, this oh-so-wise congressman also saw the future with perfect foresight, and if only we'd listened to him, Afghanistan would be a paradise now. Great book for left-wing twits who also believe Gorbachev is the hero who ended the cold war; they would enjoy listening to this on the CD player in their Volkswagon bug.
