I have to pause the audio almost every 10 minute because it was just too real for me. I lost my father when I was 24, and it was cancer. The Chrimtmas Shoes had taught me a lot, and I am going to buy the book for my sister and hope that could help her too.

My mother told me to read this book. I didn't want to because every year the song "The Christmas Shoes" comes on the air and it makes me mad. I've listened to the song over and over and really can't find a shred of compassion, decency or kindness in it. The fact that the little boy is not helped, at all by the sales person and only grudgingly by the guy behind him and only then after he pleads his story, is certainly less than charitable. But the book, from which the song was written, is nothing like that. This story made me stay in my car long after arriving at my destination, mostly because it took time to compose myself and control my overflowing emotions. I will now buy this book so I can read it every year along with my other holiday favorites.

For music fans who are familiar with the song, the story is very predictable. However, it still made me cry, several times.
