Unabridged Audiobook

Duration: 11 hours 56 minutes

Summary:

In the twentieth century, women's sexuality was seen as "Men's Sexuality Lite" basically the same, but not quite as good. From genital response to sexual desire to orgasm, we just couldn't understand that complicated, inconsistent, crazy-making ladybusiness.

Welcome to the twenty-first century.

Here's the truth: sex doesn't happen in a vacuum (unless that's what you're into!). Sex happens in a context. In your life. And all that "complication" makes perfect, simple sense, as soon as you understand how that context influences arousal, desire, and orgasm.

That's what you learn in Come as You Are.

The book begins with a straightforward biological fact: we're all made of the same parts, organized in different ways. From our anatomy down below to the sexual response mechanism in our brains to the way our bodies respond to the sexual world, each of us has our own unique sexuality.

And the science shows that the most important factor in creating and sustaining a sex life filled with confidence and joy, is not what the parts are or how they're organized, but how you feel about them. Which means that things like stress, mood, trust, and body image are not peripheral factors in a woman's sexual wellbeing; they are central to it.

It also means that, even if you don't yet feel that way, you are already sexually whole. Healthy. And beautiful.

The science says so.

And in this book, Emily Nagoski proves it.

Absolutely wonderful! Emily has completely changed the way I approach my sexuality. As a survivor of sexual abuse and someone who has spent their whole life wondering.... “what’s wrong with me?”...this book has given me permission to talk, think and read about sex. Thank you, Emily, I can never thank you enough. To all women out there... and to all men as well...no matter how you identify, this book is for you. Read this book or listen to it, it will change your life. I am currently reading it now for the third time bc I want to understand everything.
