Summary:

Dan Davis, an electronics engineer, had finally made the invention of a lifetime: a household robot that could do almost anything. Wild success was within reach—and Dan’s life was ruined. In a plot to steal his business, his greedy partner and greedier fiancée tricked him into taking the “long sleep”—suspended animation for thirty years.

But when he awoke in the far different world of AD 2000, he made an amazing discovery. And suddenly Dan had the means to travel back in time—and get his revenge.

Once again, grand master Robert Heinlein’s genius shines through, illustrating why his books have sold millions of copies and won countless awards.

Genres:

  • Gene Sheppard

This is typical excellent Heinlein. It seems to be written for young readers. The story is very simple and easy to follow. A good read for someone in her or his pubescent time of life.

  • Dmytro Zayats

First 4 CDs were boring, but then once you realize the idea it gets very interesting. I couldn't stop listening. The idea of time travel is not new - but you don't see it coming and plot is great.

  • Doc Taylor

Just as good as I remember reading when I was a teen. Things haven't turned out as Heinlein envisions here--in sci fi things rarely do. Otherwise we'd all be wearing fins on our clothing and zipping about in flitters. Some of the science is still fiction and some outmoded, but that doesn't damage the story. In Heinlein's masterful hands the characters and the time-travel plot are what matter. A good, light read, and not like Heinlein's later, stranger work.
