Summary:

The Piper family is steeped in secrets, lies, and unspoken truths. At the eye of the storm is one secret that threatens to shake their lives--even destroy them.

Set on stormy Cape Breton Island off Nova Scotia, Fall on Your Knees is an internationally acclaimed muligenerational saga that chronicles the lives of four unforgettable sisters. Theirs is a world filled with driving ambition, inescapable family bonds, and forbidden love.

Compellingly written, by turns menacingly dark and hilariously funny, this is a tale of five generations of sin, guilt, and redemption.

Genres:

Yucky and depressing. Guess I wasn't into it.

  • corinne weiss

Not into lesbians. Summary should have gave some indication.

  • ivie avery

This was hard to put down and at the same time very difficult to listen to. A great book.

  • Patricia Gravelle

This was a beautiful, yet tragic, story of family, love, and loss. At times I was extremely angry and disgusted with several of the characters, but equally enamoured to others. I would absolutely recommend this book to those who are grounded and mature enough to handle the disturbing content.

  • Rody CB

I wish I had read some of the reviews BEFORE I had opted to put this on my rental shelf. I saw that Oprah had put it on her list and assumed it would be good. It wasn't. It was written well but the subject matter was not worth my time.

  • Linda

What a monumental waste of time....please so yourself a favor and make another selection. The story is slow depressing and without any redeeming qualities.

  • Evelyn Webster

A superbly crafted novel about the terrible pain inflicted upon a family bound by adherence to inflexible cultural and religious strictures.

  • Janet Lockhart

I found this book very hard to get interested in, and as a result, I sent it back without finishing.

  • Anonymous

I did not particularly enjoy this book. There were times when it was so disturbing that I almost quit listening to it. It is a depressing story about life with an incestuos father. The narrator was very good I must say.

  • Kathy McClain

To me the story began very slow and convoluted. I listened at first just to see where the author was going and many times wondered, "Why?" Talk about dysfunctional family. The Pipers wrote the book. Not sure if I would look for anything else written by this author.
