Duration: 11 hours 51 minutes

Summary:

The headlines were gruesome: two beautiful women found strangled in the studio of a well-known London artist. To investigator William Monk and his wife Hester, the murders are a nightmare. One of the victims is an obscure artist's model. The other is the wife of Hester's cherished colleague, distinguished surgeon Dr. Kristian Beck, a Viennese emigre who swiftly becomes the principal suspect. With an intensity born of desperation, Hester, Monk, and their dear friend Lady Callandra Daviot, who cannot hide her deep love for the accused, seek evidence that will save Kristian from the hangman - hoping to penetrate not only the mystery of Elissa Beck's death... but the riddle of her life.

If you like the Monk Series, you will enjoy this one. I have listened to about 9 so far and I really like the ones narrated by Davina Porter more. I like the characters so much that even though the plot was not the most exciting, I still enjoyed the book.

The narrator does an excellent job. This book is not the best of Anne Perry's works, but it is still interesting. I am not too fond of abridged versions of books. I usually feel like I am missing something in the plot and character development, but I did not in this abridged version. It won't be the best book you have ever listened to, but I think most will find it is fast-paced and worth their time.

Good story, wonderful narrator, annoying voice telling you when each CD was over (duh!). The segments were very short which was good if I needed to go back and relisten... Not a totally original plot by any means, but worth a listen.
