Summary:

Harlan Coben earned the raves of critics everywhere for his New York Times bestselling thriller, Tell No One, hailed as “pulse-pounding” (People), “compelling and original” (Los Angeles Times), and “a thriller of runaway tension” (Iris Johansen). Now, in a bold new novel, Coben continues to stake out new ground in suspense, unleashing a haunting tale of secrets and betrayal...and of one man’s search for his missing brother that spirals into a breakneck hunt for a killer, a victim, and the truth.

As a boy, Will Klein had a hero: his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins’ affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman--a girl Will had once loved--was found raped and murdered in her family’s basement.

The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished, spending the next decade as the elusive subject of rumors, speculation, and an international manhunt. When his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.

Now eleven years have passed. And Will, who always believed in his brother’s innocence, has found evidence that Ken is alive--even as he is struck by another act of betrayal. His girlfriend suddenly disappears, leaving behind compelling evidence that she was not the person Will thought she was. As two dark dramas unwind around him, Will is pulled into a violent mystery, haunted by signs that Ken is trying to contact him after all these years. Will can feel himself coming closer and closer to his brother . . . and to a terrible secret that someone will kill to keep buried. And as the lies begin to unravel, Will is uncovering startling truths about his lover, his brother, and even himself. He knows he must press his search all the way to the end. Because the most powerful revelations are yet to come....

Gone for Good is at once a powerhouse of suspense and a haunting tale of love--the love between brothers, between lovers, between family members. It is one of those rare thrillers that not only make the pulse pound, but stir the heart as well.

I really like Harban Corben's writing style. He really keeps you pulled into a story. I have liked all of his books. I recommend this one. It is fairly short - only 5 CDs, but definitely an interesting mystery.

This was my first listen to a Harlan Coben book. He was recommended by a friend at work and I really like his style. I will be ordering more of his work.

  • Derena Leonguerrero

I like all of Harlen Coben's novels. I especially enjoyed the suspense and the way he was able to keep the reader guessing who the killer was. Also the way he was finally able to build the story to a very climactic conclusion... Very clever..

The title is dumb. It has so little to do with the book that it does it a disservice. I liked this one a lot. It would have been even better with a different narrator without such a flat voice but this guy did the various voices and accents well. The story grabs you and draws you in. There are a lot of characters and I did get confused and had to go back to figure out who was who. Some of the various bad guys seem pretty repetitious or similar so it's difficult to tell them apart. The final revelation is one I did not see coming and I usually figure these things out. A very intresting and different story. Well worth a listen!

I really enjoyed this book. There were plenty of twists and turns, and the narrator did a good job keeping me hanging on his every word. I'll definitely sign up for more books from this author!

Love this auther but the abridged version of this book leaves out way too much needed detail. The ending left you hanging for more.

  • Angela Wilson

I was very impressed by this book. It truly kept me guessing the whole time, wondering who the newly introduced mysterious characters were and who was behind the killings/attempted killings. There were a number of twists and the end truly caught me off guard.

  • Helen Medlock

The intruge that is spun through out the story plot has many turns and twist with a ruther suprising ending. The main character Will is truly clueless through most of the plot as to how he suddenly becomes involved. Some many secrets that had gone unanswered for years still have surprises even right up to the end. Coben in his usual fashion has diffenetly carried on his tradition of keeping the reader guessing. I would recommed this book

This was a first for me with this author. There were surprises throughout with one twist after another. If you let your mind wander while listening you will get lost so if you can't do this, don't get this book. Found it very enjoyable and will try another by Coben.
