Unabridged Audiobook
A truly beautiful book. Heartbreaking in the observations about a politically divided island and the effects in personal relationships. How humans forget to place value on their environment and the other humans around them. Beautifully written, loved the perspective of the tree telling the story but didn’t alway enjoy the narrator.
Beautiful writing
The Fig Tree narrator was not great. I almost gave up listening. The breathless narration was stressful and often annoying, especially when the end of many words were inaudible- almost amateurish. The younger reader was able to change voices, moods, tone. When there are multiple narrators- we should be able to rate them individually.
Great book
The amount of research that needed to go into this book is astonishing. I loved it from beginning to end.
Great story about family, power of nature and past family heritage, traditions, trauma of war and an original tree surprise voice.
excellent!
A very enjoyable read. Captivating to see human bumblings from the perspective of trees. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Solemn historical warnings abound as well. A second reading will be just as rich and rewarding.
Absolutely LOVED this book. I’ve read/listened to all of Elif’s books and her ability to bring such originality and detail is sheer brilliance.
Captivating. From concept to voice to execution, a tour de force.
Wonderful descriptions of nature (trees), and behaviour of birds. I enjoyed this book, and well read
I’ve listened and enjoyed every moment of this book, as I’ve read several of Elif’s books, I love her way of bringing life into what seems static and even dead. And there is love, life and hope to find in this listening. Thank you! Narrators have created a beautiful reality of Έλληνες and Turkish, with their accents -helping the listener to cope with the history and with the story of Elif Şafak.
