Abridged Audiobook
I'll start by admitting I chose not make it all the way through the book. After seeing Dr. Phil on TV and listening to part of this book, I have discovered that I am not a huge fan of Dr. Phil's methods.
If I had this information 20 years ago I'd surely be farther along than I am right now. Dr. Phil tells it just like it really is. I found so many of my friends in this factual information. This audio really made me think about the excuses I use and lean on day to day. I used to be such a procrastinator. Now I choose to use his experience to enhance the quality of my life right here and now. And not wait until...........................WHAT!
Great book if you could make it past the first chapter where he went on and on and on about Oprah. I guess he was just setting up the rest of the book, but it was terrible boring at the beginning.
like dr. phil-- boring book--all info was pretty basic
Very good and I love Dr. Phil - but a little too long....
Excellent. It was just like having a personal counselor in your living room. Going back and revisiting the memories, the good ones and the bad ones, was very emotional for me, but I saw with much clarity why I feel the way I do and why I act the way I do.
I was NOT a DR Phil fan. He seems to say things like "Quit stabing yourself in the eye" and people thought he was brilliant! However his book was entertaining and useful. It got me to think, and for me, that is what I am looking for in a book. Some of the material is the "same old same old" priority stuff, but his personality and delivery keep you tuned in.
If you need a kick to get out of your current mode of thinking, this book will help and will really encourage you to take responsibility for your life and to change it. For this it is valuable. It doesn't, though, give many specifics on how to go about doing that. And it's disappointing that he starts with the story of the Oprah trial that he helped out with, but never summarizes the results or how the Life Laws in the book really applied. Perhaps most eye-opening is his story in the end about a poor cab driver he met who was in full control of his life and had a complete plan for having his own cab company in five years. Ultimately, Dr. Phil is always an enjoyable and inspiring guy to spend a few hours with.
