Duration: 8 hours 22 minutes

An elderly couple living in Victorian London had been struggling financially, until an eccentric gentleman answered their ad for a lodger. But as women begin dying at the hands of a serial killer, they start to suspect something too horrific for words.

"Matchless for excitement and artistry of writing, The Lodger...takes the reader into a tale of almost unbearable suspense." -

I nearly stopped the first CD after the first few minutes; it did not sound promising as a mystery story. But I stuck with it (having nothing else to listen to on a long commute) and I was very glad I did. I found myself sitting in parking lots, listening, until I was late for appointments! I only gave 4 stars because there were parts that were quite unsatisfying (I'd rather not say what, so I don't spoil it for others), but the plot and characters were quite compelling. Well worth renting, especially for mystery buffs.
