Meera's Friends, the Trees

Meera, growing up in a mountain village in the foothills of the Himalayas, loves every one of the trees under whose shade she plays. But, one terrifying day, Meera hears of an evil plan by the city-folk to cut down her beloved forests. She knows she must act but what can she do against such powerful enemies? Based on true events, read the story of how Meera saved her trees. This story was inspired by the Chipko Movement, in which the peasant women of Uttaranchal similarly saved their trees from being cut.
