It is dusk on July l7, 1996. A man and a woman who are married-but not to each other-make love on a Long Island beach as a video camera records their pleasure...and something more. Out over the ocean, TWA Flight 800 suddenly explodes with 230 victims on board, the terrible blast illuminating the sky. The government's verdict is mechanical failure. But the videotape may tell another story-if it can be found. Now, on the fifth anniversary of the crash, two members of the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force set out to reopen the case: John Corey, an ex-NYPD detective, and his wife, Kate Mayfield, a career FBI agent. Together, they hunt for the crucial video...and race toward an elusive truth even more horrifying than the crash itself.

This book was so exciting i didnt want to stop hearing it. It will keep you on your toes trying to figure out if flight 800 was indeed an accident or a terorist act. The reader was a perfect fit for John Corey assoiated with the Anti-terrorist task force.

Lots of suspense, but the ending was disappointing.

What? There was an ending? I missed it. I thought I would be receiving more CD's, and was surprised that the 5 that I received were the total book. If somebody "got" the ending, I'd appreciate some info!

I thought it was a good story, I just feel let down from the ending. Not to give anything away, it is like reading/listening to a mystery and not finding out who did it at the end of the story

This book was OK up the end but and he did not know what to do so it ended stupidly. He left out all the information you needed to conclude the book. Last book of his I will ever read. If I had the actual book I would have thrown it away but alas all I could do was erase it.

Do not miss the book! A little slow in the beginning but well worth the wait. Not a short book but a wonderful long story that will have you on the edge of your seat for the ending. Repeating main character has me wishing I had another book to start the minute this one is finished. Rarely do I write an author but this time I can't wait to ask him when these characters are coming back.

The book is slow to get going, but it does improve if you listen to a lot of the many discs. You need a lot of time to listen to this story

  • Larry Brinckerhoff

I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of detail that made the story great and the people seem real. The ending was a bit predictable, and a little disappointing. It is worth the time to listen.

Brilliant! Keeps you guessing. being that this is based on a real incident (TWA 800), and one knows the ending (or lack thereof) of that story, you are kept wondering where this story is leading. The ending is brilliant. Loved it.

Narrator does a nice job of capturing the essense of John Corey. Th abridged version tells a very complete story.
