Duration: 54 hours 50 minutes

Summary:

This spellbinding adventure is a literary triumph that proves once again why James Clavell's books have become modern classics.

Set in Hong Kong in 1963, the action of Noble House spans scarcely more than a week, but these are days of high adventure: from kidnapping and murder to financial double-dealing and natural catastrophes-fire, flood, landslide. Yet they are also days filled with all the mystery and romance of Hong Kong-the heart of Asia-rich in every trade ... money, flesh, opium, power.

"Fiction for addicts...extravagantly romantic...a book that you can get lost in for weeks...staggering complexity...not only is it as long as life, it's also as rich with possibilities."-New York Times

This is a super book which will engage you mind, body and soul. We are with the central protagonist Ian Struan Dunross, Tai Pan of the Noble House, on Hong Kong Island as he battles with industrial, financial and political issues on a monumental scale. Any one of which would overpower a lesser man. Plots and sub plots abound which leave you on the edge of your seat. Throw in cultural and historical references, a smattering of Chinese, Japanese and Russian and you start to believe that you are really there. Truly a book to dive into. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
