Summary
When Keri Sackville began dating again after a long marriage, she made every mistake known to woman kind. She swiped right on scammers and fakers, spent weeks fruitlessly texting, agreed to long dates with the wrong men, and got involved with hot messes and commitment phobes. She also met amazing men and went on sensational first dates, and learned how to navigate the minefield that is dating in midlife. Now, in this comprehensive survival guide, Kerri shares her wisdom. Peppered with hilarious anecdotes from her five years on the scene, she covers everything from ghosting to negging, from Friends with Benefits to players, from online profiles to spotting ‘red flags', from the perils of chemistry to the pain of breakups, She will show you what to expect when you join a dating site, which men to avoid, which men are worth a shot and, most importantly, how to protect yourself along the way.

As a never-married man involved in online dating, I'm not in this book's target audience. My first reaction to much of the advice was, "Duh, everyone knows that." Except that, of course, that not everyone does. The book is online dating 101, an introduction at a very basic level. That's because it's aimed at women who are completely new to this experience. If you're in the author's situation -- dating again after years of marriage ends in divorce -- this book will give you, in five hours, a valuable crash course, presenting the information more efficiently than if you went out and hunted it up for yourself. (It's aimed primarily at women but men in that situation would benefit some, too.) Along with this information, there's a certain amount of restoring-your-self-esteem stuff. I found a few of those passages a bit treacly, but, again, I'm not recovering from a divorce or the end of a long relationship. Some listeners will benefit from that advice. Even if your self-esteem is fine, you won't find the cheerleading more than a minor distraction. Some author-narrated books make me long for a professional reader. With this one, however, it was a definite plus. Kerri Sackville tells her own story. Of course she's reading from a text, but she makes it sound like her end of a conversation.
