I know you don’t know me but you have to help me. I didn’t kill anyone.

When Rowan stumbles across the advert, it seems like too good an opportunity to miss: a live-in nanny position, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when she arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten by the luxurious ‘smart’ home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family.

What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare – one that will end with a child dead and her in a cell awaiting trial for murder.

She knows she’s made mistakes. But she’s not guilty – at least not of murder. Which means someone else is…

'Creepy, engrossing, and oh-so-hard to put down' JP DELANEY, author of The Girl Before

This was one and still is one of my favourite audio books, the narration and length was just right and I really enjoyed the story line

Histrionic melodrama start to finish. Imogen Church is usually an excellent narrator and perhaps her tediously over acted narration was a reflection of the author’s writing, which had all the heightened and overblown hysterics of a teenage diary. Far too long, far too profligate application of unnecessary adverbial and adjectival gilding. Very poor indeed.

Good book, but not her best. Scope of plot too narrow. Could stop listening for 20 minutes and come back, and nothing had changed.

Too long. Missed opportunity. Narrator unnecessarily petulant and melodramatic intonation at times though good at other times

It is slow but that adds to the tension. Totally did not see the ending coming!

This book drove me mad at times. it was so slow and OTT in detail. But that says more about me and my impatience than the story. It was good. It was gripping and I got it completely wrong in the end. Well done Ms Ware.
