The Worthing Saga

Unabridged Audiobook

Written By: Orson Scott Card

Narrated By: Scott Brick

Publisher: Blackstone Audiobooks

Date: June 2005

Duration: 18 hours 38 minutes

Summary:

It was a miracle of science that permitted human beings to live, if not forever then for a long, long time. Somec created two societies: that of people who lived out their normal span and died and those who slept away the decades, skipping over the intervening years. It allowed great plans to be put into motion. It allowed interstellar empires to be built. It came near to destroying humanity. After a long, long time of decadence and stagnation, a few seed ships were sent out to save our species. Each carried human embryos and supplies and teaching robots and one man. The Worthing Saga is the story of one of these men, Jason Worthing, and the world he found for the seed he carried.

Was not even close to the Ender Series, but the Worthing Saga had one good part and one weak part. The primary story / Jason Worthing's tale...definitely worth listening to. The "additional backstories"....not so much.

In my eyes a good book will keep coming back. Driving to work, washing the dishes, or doing the lawn, a good book will come back into your mind to entertain and provoke. This book does that for me. It's all over the place as far as story and timeline. There are several smaller stories that orbit the main story of Worthing. Confusing at times, but in a good way. Definitely a welcome relief from the boy meets A, boy kills B, boy runs C.
