Experience the explosive, “intriguing, imaginative, and very suspenseful” (Dale Brown, New York Times bestselling author) classic thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Da Vinci Code and Inferno that follows Robert Langdon on a white-knuckled race against time to uncover the darkest secrets of Rome.

An ancient secret brotherhood. A devastating new weapon of destruction. An unthinkable target.

When world-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a mysterious symbol, he discovers evidence of the unimaginable: the resurgence of an ancient and powerful secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati—which has its sights on its longtime enemy: the Catholic Church.

Desperate to save the Vatican, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Together, they embark on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and the most secretive vault on earth—the long-forgotten Illuminati lair which houses the only hope for the salvation of the Catholic Church.

“A breathless, real-time adventure” (San Francisco Chronicle), Angels & Demons is an unputdownable and whip-smart thriller that careens from enlightening epiphanies to dark truths as the battle between science and religion turns to war.

I read a lot of books, but this was the 2nd book ever in my 40 years that I read cover to cover only stopping to sleep. It draws you in almost immediately and keeps you on the edge of your seat up until the very end. A fantastic book by a fantastic mystery writer. My all-time favorite book.

Was a decent book, love the historical research the author put into it.

  • Paul P.

Kept my attention to the end

  • Elisabetta W.

I loved the story mixed with interesting historical information and very well narrated. The plot twists and turns keeps you glued and makes hard to put down. Truly enjoyable. If you have enjoyed The Da Vinci Code Dan and The Lost Symbol like I did you will definitely enjoy this one too. Again I love the narrator too. The only drawback in the narration is that between chapters sometimes he pauses for long time making me wonder if the tape broke or something... lol. Anyway once you learn that it’s normal you just go with it. Not enough negative not to give it a five star.

  • Breanna J

My favorite of his books, keeps you on your toes, hard to put down.

  • Keri Morris

Love the historical references and information given with this thrilling take. The narrator perfectly delivers this intriguing story of religion, science, and murder.

  • Jessica Wootton

I prefer to listen to books that I have already read because then I have the characters firmly established in my head, also reading the book then listening to the audio gives a new outlook for me. I have enjoyed listening to this book, not so sure about the narration, definitely not like the voices I had in my head but I enjoyed it.

  • Jason Comely

This is my first taste of Dan Brown and definitely my last. The writing is pretty bad for someone so successful, but the story is pure drivel. About 45 minutes in and I could take no more.

  • Anonymous

It is a decent book, but the author likes to make the characters not believe or understand way too much just so he can keep laying out pieces of the puzzle and present shocking details to characters and not the reader so he can again make the character that discovered the shocking details explain it to the unbelieving other character. It is a somewhat small drawback to a decent book. Overall it is a good book with annoying ways to convey the story every once in a while.

  • Bushra Rehman

Pretty good. Some parts of the book seemed to be unnecessary and typical--such as the romance--however the book is very interesting and good. I look forward to seeing the movie. However, since I know Tom Hanks (who I normally like) plays the role of Robert Langdon, I struggled with reconciling the image in my head with Tom Hanks. Oh well! The narration was good.

  • mmorris

I loved the movie, but the book was so much more complete. Well written and exciting.

  • Anonymous

I kept thinking "I already read this book, but it was not nearly as graphically gory or violent." I stopped all together when the dangling guy was burned alive. Blech.

  • Anonymous

If you liked the movie, you definitely want to listen to this book... Dan Brown is not only a master tale spinner, but the reader is very good as well... At times I could picture Tom Hanks as he read... lol

  • Anonymous

Kind of boring in more than one place... Long....

  • Anonymous

I found a lot of this book idiotic. Couldn't finish it. The main characters are supposed to be scientists and every little detail has to be spelled out for them. Brown apparently believes his readers won't be able to figure anything out without being spoon-fed. Examples: it never occurs to a (petite) female scientist that a security system based on retinal scanning might be anything but fool-proof-- right off the bat I can think of a couple of ways that my retina might be scanned against my will. And she, raised by a priest, can't imagine why ROME would be targeted by an anti-religious group! Two examples out of fifty. I had to bail.

  • Anonymous

This book got so tedious, I really couldn't finish listening to it. I like the reader but it got to be too much.

  • doc

Excellent narration, dramatic plot, found myself miles past my destination while listening and driving...infinite kudos!!!!

  • gabby

This was ok, but it was really long on details. Hope you like it.

  • goodenergy

If you are looking for a new experience, unlike other books, with a blend of fact and fiction, slight romance, plenty of insane violence, and the thrusts of dogma in a modern age up against reason and technology... this book will not be boring. It may be absurd. Still, though it is absurd, it is almost believable... as much of life and the leadership we see around the world behaving with extreme values and beliefs... fitting for our times.

  • Elizabeth

This was a very good and engaging book. I had heard that it was a Catholic bashing. I found some parts inspiring and other parts distressing, like a good book should be. I didn't find it Catholic bashing.

  • susan

I think I like this one better than DaVinci Code. Twists, turns and always entriging. If it were hard copy it would be called a page-turner...instead you will find excuses to keep driving!

  • Troyanne

Very entertaining story, but in retrospect, I wish I'd gotten the abridged version. I usually don't like abridged books, but I found myself wishing for a "fast forward" button more than once.

  • Debs

This book was a pretty good. A few places it was a bit far fetched but all in all entertaining and worth listening to.

  • Anonymous

I thought this was an okay book. It had a good amount of action and adventure. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars only because some of the "narrow escapes" of Robert Langdon were a bit far fetched and unbelievable. It was interesting, though, and kept my mind going on my long commute to work.

  • Anonymous

I like Dan Brown novels as much as I like trashy television like Flavor of Love. Horrible stuff, but in a strange way, keeps me glued. This book is no acception. It's very long, but interesting enough to keep me awake during my commute. It's basically The Da Vinci Code using anti-matter and a different female lead. Nonetheless, it was worth listening to. The narration was good, not outstanding, but good. I'd recommend it.

  • Tom

I found this fell far short of the DaVinci Code. I could not finish the book

  • Anonymous

This book is a terrific escape. It took me a couple disks to get engrossed in this book, but when it happened I was burning through multiple disks per day! The story will pull you in and force you to spend extra time saying to yourself "just one more track..."

  • Anonymous

Great book!!!!! You will not be disappointed. The story was wonderful and very exciting. Edge of your seat stuff.

  • JW in GA

I could not stop listening to this book once I started. It's a little long, but Dan Brown gives a good history lesson along with the story. I always learn so much from reading any of his books. I kinda hated to see it end. It would make a wonderful movie. I kept trying to picture who would play Robert Langdon and Vittoria's characters. My husband was glad to see me finish the book--he got his wife back!

  • Anonymous

Much like those typical summer movies, this audio book follows the formula for entertaining, even if not the highest quality. Similarities between angels & demons and the Da Vinci code are evident. Some of the aspects of the plot are predictable, while others are so out there that they become unrealistic. Still, if you are in the mood for adventure, this book does not disappoint.

  • Anonymous

At first I almost sent this back. slow starter but I'm happy I stayed with it. Definitely enjoyed it!

  • Mark Piccolo

Dan Brown did a wonderful job with this book. Richard Poe is a great narrator. I hope the movie in the works does the book justice

  • Anonymous

A horrifying, action packed thriller that will leave a chill in your heart for weeks afterwards. The main characters escape many death defying situations. Full of perversion and twisted characters. It is my opinion that the book is evil and no Christian should contemplate reading it. The subject matter was thought provoking, however. The author accomplished his goals of producing a best seller with plots details and subject matter that appeals to many action novel readers.

  • Anonymous

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. The narrator did a great job of portraying the different characters, and the overall suspense of the book definitely kept my attention throughout. I'll have to agree with others that it was predictable at times, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

  • Bob King

I thought about giving this book a 3, but it was an entertaining listen with some very interesting (albeit somewhat predictable) twists. Dan Brown's writing style tends to be over the top. The characters are "stunned" or "shocked" hundreds of times during a 24 hour period. You’d think they would learn. Further the two main characters have more lives than cats, escaping almost impossible sure-death situations numerous times during that same 24 hour period. Even the story line was over the top. But as I said earlier, despite its improbable story line, it was an engaging listen. I looked forward to getting back in the car so that I could listen to the next CD, and at the end of the day that’s probably the best indicator of whether or not a book is good.

  • Robert Flynn

Excellent! A little predictable at times, but very good.

  • Anonymous

Excellent audio book, one of the best I've listened to in a while. Keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Highly recommend if you like thought provoking suspense.

  • Sean Stringham

This was a great book. I think Dan Brown wrote it very well with great detail and realism, although antimatter is just a theory for now. The naration and different voices was near flawless. I loved it and could take the earbuds out of my ears, so I had to do mundane activities for 18 hours just so I could focus on it. But I listened to it in 2 days, it was that good. I would suggest it to anyone who like to be entertained and intrigued.

  • Kirsten Mitchell

I couldn't make it all the way through this one. Dan Brown is as tight and ingenious as ever, but the story was just too graphic and violent for me. I reached a point where, as much as i wanted to know how he was going to wrap this up, i just couldn't tolerate any more violence and abuse to find out. To be just, it was all extremely integral to the plot, the writing is excellent and so is the narration. Just a bad choice for my personal tastes.

  • Anonymous

Not as good as The Code. Very long and drawn out. It's structured just like The Code, but it's a longer done version with less of a thrill. It began to sound really unrealistic-I mean way to unrealistic. It kept me going, but I couldn't wait for it to be over. I will not be recommending this book to anyone, but will give Brown another shot.

  • Bruce Curson

Narrator was excellent. Story was gripping ... a tad long but I listened to the unabridged version. Still, a high recommendation.

  • Nicole Kissell

I was very disappointed with this book. I loved the DaVinci Code, and this is quite obviously an earlier work before Dan Brown really hit his stride. I had not realized he was such a formula writer. Same use of secret society through the centuries headed by well known figures. The middle half of the book was very gripping, and I did want to keep listening to that section. However, it took a long time to build up to it, and by the end I was thinking "enough already." Overall, Angels & Demons did keep me captivated enough to want to finish the book, but I won't be recommending it to anyone else.

  • Cindy S.

I am sure that I, like millions of other people, found my way to this book after reading The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown. It was nice to learn more about Robert Langdon. It felt like a "backstory", to quote a common TV storytelling strategy. The book is similar to the "Code" in that there is clearly a religious premise, it introduces us to various landmarks in a famous international city (Rome), and it challenges the reader to question widely accepted versions of church history. This was a good story, left me wanting to explore the churches of Rome, and kept my interest up to the very end. My advice? Get it on your rental list now.

  • Tricia

Although I agree this book had some unlikely plot elements, it was a ripping good story that kept me on the edge of my seat. Unbelieveably, I could hardly wait for another commute to see what would happen next! I also enjoyed learning some historical facts and of course taking a mini-tour of Rome wasn't bad either!

  • Anonymous

Really enjoyed listening to the book. Kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat through out the book. Made a drive that is normaly boring and unevental a joy and it went by fast. I like the charter of Lanngdon and hope that he writes more books with him. Have listened to both this one and the Da Vinci Code and am looking forward to more.

  • Anonymous

This is one of the most entertaining books I've ever read. It's way better than DaVinci Code being more mysteriously complex and involved. Both were great page-turners.

  • Peter Evensen

I made it through this audio book, but just barely. While I realize it is fiction, it tries to be "realistic" and utterly fails. The characters do very stupid things (who would only protect dangerous material with a retina scanner? who hasn't heard of killing someone and gouging out their eye to get past it?) There are many unjustified (and unexplained) plot complications. Why would you design such a sophisticated charging system for anti-matter containment cylinders? And that is just the beginning of the book. I failed to care about any of the characters. Perhaps if I were Roman Catholic, I might have cared more (or just simply been offended by things). The plot twist at the end was unexpected, but also highly unbelievable. Don't waste your time on this book, unless you like yelling at the characters for how stupid they are acting and being annoyed at the needless explanations and contrived complications.

  • Donna B

Another great book!!! It was riveting right down to the last. Dan Brown did a fantastic job of keeping my interest and if you have already read The Davinci Code and loved it, you will love this one too!!

  • Brett R.

I mostly rent non-fiction, and this was my first fiction rental. But I was pleasantly surprised. It was very well written with interesting characters and a very interesting storyline. Really the only thing about it that I didn't like was that it was a little long to listen (15 CD's in length), and the fact that some of the CD's audio skipped in places.

  • andy h

An interesting story, and for the most part well-paced, but the characters just didn't seem to have the life that they did in Da Vinci Code. It's a decent thriller, but it seemed a bit lifeless which made it hard to get involved in the story. Worth a listen, but won't stay with you long.

  • Anonymous

As with the Da Vinci Code, the author builds a story based upon historical elements, pushing the mysteries of the past to build for a rather intriguing story line. While this book also takes more than a few pot shots at religion, it is entertaining and will keep you engaged. I don't think it was as good as the Da Vinci Code, but if you like that type of book, you will likely appreciate this one.

  • Rich Hallum

Loved this book. Great story, characters and the things about the Catholic church. This is one of the best I've heard in a while. Lots of twists.

  • Shellee Martin

Great, but predictable, story. I was especially intrigued by the information about Catholicism, as I am not Catholic. Kept me riveted.

  • Barbara Woody

I enjoyed this piece of fiction and yes, it is definately fiction. I have a 30 minute commute through West Texas desert just to get to a town with more than one stoplight. Dan Brown's novel kept me alert and amused in what would have been a long tedious drive. In fact, at some parts I would sit in the car listening because I didn't want to wait to hear what had just happened.

  • Anonymous

I enjoyed this one even more than the DaVinci Code-a few really good shockers at the end. Found myself sitting on my driveway not wanting to miss the end of the chapter!

  • Anonymous

I really enjoyed this book, thought it was well done, and the interweaving of fact, fiction and history kept me wondering what would happen next.

  • Anonymous

Excellent! I wish this author had more books to read! So suspenseful and very intelligent, stimulating writing by the author.

  • Linda Lewis Griffith

A white-knuckle thriller that kept us glued to the edge of our seats. A great pick for a long-distance trip.

  • Anonymous

The audiobook kept me listening despite some goofy details, but I was disappointed by the ending. Lots of twists and turns which was fun, but a bit silly in spots. I got the feeling that there was a lot of story to wrap up and not enough time to do it in. That could be a result of the abridging, but it still took something away from the ending. There were several details that didn't add up - the helicopter scene at the end, the camera that no one could locate, and a canister of deadly anti-matter with a rechargable battery? Really? Worth a listen if you like Dan Brown's other books, but not his best.

  • Anonymous

I thought this was a very good book in the beginning, but toward the end it go silly and, to be honest, a little annoying. I certainly don't regret renting it, however, because it was entertaining and mostly intelligent.

  • David Kline

Really liked the puzzle aspect of the book but there is way too much suspension of disbelief (a man falling 2000 feet from a helicopter with a sheet and surviving????). The ending was excessively anti-climactic and the science was iffy at best though went to great lengths to try to sound 'official'. Overall, entertaining but not a must read. I liked the narrator quite a bit, however, and would be interested in listening to other titles read by him.

  • Anonymous

Well written and well read. I really love the way he uses facts to make the story so believable. It is almost like the situation could actually happen. Really good book.

  • Phil Isis

For those of you that drive the drive...this book gives maximum road time audio satisfaction. The flow of the action along with the well done reading almost made me forget which exit to get off at. I highly recommend this audio book on every level...you won't be dissapointed..GO ANTI-MATTER!

  • Christine Beck

Angels & Demons was as good as it was long. The well thought out story, its intricate detail, the characters, the many climaxes made this book Dan Brown's best. Its amazing how this story has so many twists and turns. Mr. Brown weaves a wonderful story centered around the Vatican. It combines science, intrigue, religion, suspense/drama, romance, and more. Don't think you understand everything as you listen to this book. There are several surprises. Be prepared to see this in the theaters some day. Enjoy!!

  • Steve Larabee

Another masterpiece by Dan Brown. I only wish that I would have read this one before the DeVinci Code. It would have lent more insight into the past experienced of Robert Langdon. Overall I feel it was very well written with shockingly accurate details of the history of Christendom. Thanks Mr. Brown for another wonderful story.

  • Anonymous

This book was exremely long and very tedious. I didn't even bother to finish it.

  • Marty

It was good-- definitely kept me interested. If you liked The Da Vinci Code, you'll like this one as well. Many aspects were the same- a secret society, religious symbology, ancient artifacts, etc. I had it figured out-- to some extent-- well before the end though. Even so, I would recommend it. If you can get the unabridged, do it.

  • Teresa of San Antonio

Yes, this book is like the DaVinci Code, but much more involved. I liked it very very much but did not find the conclusion credible based on the books descriptions of events and characters. Disappointing but still a good listen.

  • Mary Ellen

This was really enjoyable listening. Lots of mystery and intrigue, very good, comparable to The DiVinci Code. I like Mr. Brown's style and plot.

  • Steven Casale

As was the case with the DA VINCI CODE, I found ANGELS & DEMONS to be captivating right from the start. Dan Brown once again mixes fiction with fact to create a story which expands your understanding of history. This history is then utilized as a canvass to paint a suspenseful and thrilling story with characters whom you become quite familar with. I would highly reccomend the unabridged version for the sheer history lessons and descriptions of priceless art.

  • Anonymous

Good start, interesting maze of clues, then unplausable ending. Disapointing.

  • Judie

It was great. I could not wait to get to my car to listen to more.I would highly recommend it.

  • Scott

This is a fantastic story, delivered well on audio, and providing a shining example of what an audio book should be. Note to author: please make more.

  • Leann

This was just like his other book,THE DA VINCI CODE. I wouldn't need to read this again.

  • Anonymous

The main characters of this book are great at identifying clues using their knowledge of science and history; however, they seem unable to grasp the obvious. Too many easily handled situations were interpreted as conundrums. At points, the obvious solutions were even explored by them, only to be lost as if they assumed the resolutions could not be that easy.

  • White&Gold

Can you rate it more than 5 stars?? This novel, along with "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert have thus far been my absolute FAVORITE "reads." Oh, and Harry Potter- the narrator just makes it so worth the time! And time, yes- you will lose sleep, you will miss your exit, you will ignore emails and phone calls all in the name of "Angels & Demons." Before "Da Vinci Code," Langdon was having all kinds of fun in Italy (I'd read this before Da Vinci). I'm looking forward to much more from Brown!

  • Mel Longano

I definitely could NOT stop listening to this book. EXCELLENT - but the conclusion dragged on with unnecessary, pointless and ridiculous babbling, that it left me dissappointed. I didnt listen to half of the last CD, so who knows what happened at the end ! I still recommend this book to anyone that can get their hands on it.

  • Theresa

I really liked this book, I think Dan Brown writes a great story. It is easy to listen to and keeps you wanting to know more. I liked it. I had to listen to the first few chapters over again before I continued with the rest of the book to get into it better, but all in all it is a great story.

  • Anonymous

AWESOME!!!! Sat in the car in my garage for 1/2 hour just to finish it!!!

  • Kristeen Sellers

I would get to work or home, and not want to get out of my car, because I was so enthralled with this book. Couldn't wait to get back in my car to continue listening. The narrator does an outstanding job. Some of the ideas are very see through, but there are a few twist that caught me off guard. If you like suspense/thrillers, you will probably enjoy this bood.

  • Leslie Speck

A marvelous mystery story. It is typical Dan Brown....following his set formula, but a tense story with an unusual ending. It is an extremely "wordy" book. The listener might be best served to get the abridged version and lose nothing of the impact of the story and characters.

  • Anonymous

Dan Brown's use of descriptive words is unbelievable. You feel you are right there with the characters. It is very hard to stop the audio. Most of our listening is when traveling. Often we sit in the car after we have arrived, just to come to a good stopping point.

  • Gary A.

Ugh. This is the worst book I have tried follow. Langdon's character is trite, boring and he comes off as a buffoon. The narrator has no style and it is very difficult to determine one character from another. Horrible. Save your time/money and rent/purchase something else.

  • MV

Angels and Demons is much better than the Da Vanci Code. The beginning is slow and ridiculous. ANTIMATTER! - geez, Dan, have you been reading too much sci-fi pulp. You'll also have to ignore Dan's mediocre writing skills for a truly engaging story that kicks off after the first couple of chapters. Four stars for a great action plot following interesting clues. Two stars for cheeze and half-decent writing.

  • Annie Pearson

One of the best books I've listened to in a while. The book started a tad bit slow but it picked up and started to jog and then it took off running and finished with such a surprise ending it knocked me off of my seat. I could not stop listening to it and when it ended I wanted more. The characters were so vivid and strong I felt like I personally knew them and I was on a wild adventure with them. I truly loved the book.

  • Anonymous

The book is very similar to The DaVinci Code, but still excellent. Dan Brown does an excellent job at combining fiction with history to create an exciting murder mystery.

  • Sandra M

Great suspensful novel - kept your attention - at one point I found myself in my garage in the dark (after getting home late from work)just so that I could keep listening. Only negative the narrator uses some very sharp/load changes for certain characters found it very harsh at some points.

  • Anonymous

I wasn't sure how I would like this particular story. I'm finding it to be captivating and keeping my interest to the point that I can't wait for the next CD to keep me going. I travel an hour to work and back. Listening to this series has been tremendously helpful in allowing the time to pass. There is less stress with the traffic! The author / speakers are awesome!

  • Anonymous

I enjoyed this mystery thriller. it was a good read

  • Anonymous

Outstanding! This novel was gripping and intense. I loved it!

  • Elizabeth Biggers

This book was truly awesome and spellbinding. Another of my all time favorites by Dan Brown.

  • Jason Dunn

I actually liked this book better than The Da Vinci Code! Great suspense and better plot set in Rome, a much more interesting setting than in Da Vinci.

  • Danny Wester

The book was good but not as good as the Da Vinci Code. I wish I had read this book first.

  • Jessica

This was my first book through the program and I really enjoyed. Thought the narration was great. Kept me very entertained.

  • Marrietta Kay McKay

Wonderful book! I was apprehensive to listen to this but was very entertained. This is another book that holds you so intensely you don't want to get out of the car.

  • Anonymous

The characters and plot are much better developed than in the DaVinci code. The ideas in the DaVinci code, however, are much more intriguing. The book is enjoyable and worth listening to.

  • Laurajean

I’m over the whole Dan Brown – Di Vinci Code/Angels & Demons stories. This one in particular was painful to endure. You just want to slap the Robert Langdon character and tell him to stop being such a pansy. The basic theme of the book is someone coming up with a theory, Robert Langdon saying that it’s not possible, the theory coming into fruition then the whole cycle happening over. There are so many good books out there, don’t waste your time on this one.

  • Anonymous

Better than the Da Vinci Code. It keeps you thinking until the very end.

  • melissa

Loved the book. The narrator was really great, as well.

  • Maryann Knights

What an awesum book that grabs you from the first paragraph and keeps you guessing until the last chapter as to what is going to happen. Just when you think you have it figured out another twist comes out of the woodwork. A definite must read!

  • Kathy

This is the best book that I have read in quite awhile. It was spell binding from the begining to the end. What fun I had and what amazing things I learned along the way.

  • Walter Mallon

A thriller as good as any other Dan Brown has written. Occassionaly I got a little bored with all the historical backstory, but it's still a great book.

  • Lydia McEvoy

The story was every bit as interesting as The DaVinci Code. Great characters, lots of twists and turns. The ending is pretty predictable and a little fantastical though. I liked the plot and 90% of the book--it just lost me at the end. Worth the money and time for the entertainment value.

  • Anonymous

I loved this story as much as the DaVinci Code. It was fast-paced, action-filled, and kept me wanting to hear more. I would highly recommend this if you liked the Code.

  • Tami Whalen

The overall story was fairly entertaining but the implausability of the main character's many lives grew tiresome. Maybe he had been a cat in a former life. I love the actual historic references and descriptions of places in Italy but the story was really lacking. I read Davinci Code first so I found this unbelievably similar in formula. Many writers have a basis of formula but it isn't alway extremely obvious by the second book. My love for Italy is all that kept me interested in this one.

  • Anonymous

Fascinating. The level of detail Dan Brown provides is just fascinating. If all you're looking for is action, forget it. This is not for you. But for those avid readers who love to enjoy a good book as well as learn new things simultaneously (the more details the better) this book is for you. Brown obviously puts forth a lot of effort into satisfying the curiously thirsty mind.

  • Angela Jones

Intense, and intriguing. This was an awesome book filled with twists, turns and plenty of unexpected drama. I particularly love the descriptions of the art work and the churches in Rome. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a thrill seeker.

  • Sandra White

This was an increditble book! It held my attention and I couldn't put the book down. A really interesting and riveting mystery that keeps you at the edge of every page wondering what will happen next and who is doing it all.

  • Mark Bridge

This book is a windy road full of interesting ideas and thrilling suspense. I recommend it for passing your long car rides away.

  • Howeln

It was suggested that I listen to this book, before the Da Vinci code - which I have yet to hear - as it is usually checked out :-) The story was very interesting, and a fun listen as the story and mystery unfold. I also like the imagery and detail of the locations. I also liked the twists and turns in the story. Some people mention that the facts have been twisted; all I can say is it is still a good story, and really, how many people use novels as their source for history and information?

  • Anonymous

The story kept you at the edge of your seat througout the book. Never a dull moment. I read the Da Vinci Code first, and this book does not disappoint!

  • Darlene

As good as, if not better than the Da Vinci Code. Twists and turns to the very end.

  • ML

Not as good as the Da Vinci Code, but still a good story. Drags a bit in places as Da Vinci Code did, but Brown does a great job of blending some truth with his own story to make a good page-turner.

Excellent book. Well researched and intriguing from start to finish. I found myself sitting in the car to finish the chapters.

Follows the same "formula" as The Davinci Code, but still very interesting and entertaining!

  • Joanne

Good Book! I enjoyed the fact that this book started quickly with great intrigue and suspense; unfortunately the ending was a bit weak.

This is not the typical type of novel that I would select but I have to admit that I sat in my car after arriving at my destination to keep listening, on more than one occasion. It's definitely time well spent.

Angels and Demons was a such a thrill ride. I couldn't stop listening to it. Someone had to come and get me out of my car. The story is fascinating and filled with surprises. I loved it!

  • NY'er In Exile

If I hadn't read The DaVinci Code first, this one would be 5 stars. Well read, easy to listen to, and a bit less complex than The DaVinci Code. The plot kept me guessing most of the way through - but then maybe I'm just not as quick as some of the other reviewers! All in all a very enjoyable listen. I was most struck (again) by Brown's unbelievable attention to detail.

fairly entertaining if you like popcorn flicks and airport novels but badly written and silly in some of its premises and hazy on its facts

One of the best. On par with the brillance of the Da Vinci Code. Can't choose which is the best between Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. Definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. Additionally, love the historical facts liberally interspersed throughout. A must read

I have to give this 5 stars because I just enjoyed it so much. I couldn't wait to get into my car to head off to work or anywhere. There are many twists and turns and the reader is excellent. If you don't have any religious beliefs, you may not find some of the twists and turns believable, but that shouldn't stop you from reading this enjoyable book.

I really got into this book. I wasn't sure about it at first, but Dan Brown brings the characters to life and you care about them and their quest And there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing 'til the end.. Whether you are interested in the history of the Catholic Church, the history of Roman art, a fan of Dan Brown or just want to listen to a good story, here's the book for you. However, there were a couple of unbelievable plot twists that lowered my over all score from 5 to 4 stars

I liked this book right away but some aspects were hard to understand. Aside from the murder committed, I would suggest that if you are not a big science buff to research and study what people are saying about this and the DaVinici Code. The reader should have a good understanding of Physics, religion and science to understand this book.

Look: I'm not saying it's perfect but once you get past the third CD, you won't stop listening until it's done. I like it and Victoria is much hotter than Sophie.

This book is amazing, it draws you in, makes you look at all sides and then teaches you history without knowing, excellent book, kept my mind running long after the CD player was off. My parents read the book and we have had many discussions regarding it....EXCELLENT read!!! I would highly recommend this book.

NPR refers to their most riveting radio pieces as "drive-way moments". I listened to Angels and Demons during my commute and almost every day was a drive-way momemt. It actually made me look forward to driving to work. Granted, there is a sedtion in which similar events are repeated. However, before and after that section, the story moves quickly with plot twists I just did not anticipate until the very last moment.

If you loved Davinci Code, you will love this. Although this was done before Davinci, it is of the same quality and offers the same enjoyment. A very interesting "page-turner" that I couldn't get enough of. I can't wait to the movie Ron Howard and Tom Hanks make out of this.

This Book caught my attention with the first sentence! Dan Brown has an excellent gift for writing riveting books. If you like hearing about symbology and other people's views on religion or just suspense you will love this book!!!

  • Selena Hernandez

I am not a fan of religiious genres, but this one is good! It is written from a fictional standpoint and doesn't preach. Great plot! I would recommend this to anyone.

This book dragged on from CDs 6-12. It was too easy to guess the twists and turns. If you have read the Da Vinci Code, then there is no reason to read this book, as they essentially have the same twists and concepts.

The book was alright. It kept me interested most of the way through. It has more twists and turns. But it gets kinda boring towards the end, the final twist in the story should have been left out in my opinion.

  • Rita Main

Fast paced - very timely reading with the death our the Pope.

  • Cyndy Wescott

All the Dan Brown books I have listened to are great! He is one of my favorite writers. This book holds your interest through the whole story!!

  • DAS

Almost as good as The Da Vinci Code, just not quite as polished. If you liked the Da Vinci Code, you'll like this book. It's a suspense, detective story that keeps you glued to the CD player. Just as The Da Vinci Code had me turning to the Internet to look up art history items, this book makes you want to learn about buildings and art work in Rome.

  • Mary Schweitzer

Good, pretty suspenseful ... interesting tale ... keeps you involved.

  • Daparoye

After reading The Da Vinci Code I really wanted to go back for Angels & Demons so I got it on audio. I have to say that I loved it. It kept me on my toes until the very suprising end. The reader was excellent.

  • Dan Pressley

I made the mistake of listening to Da Vinci Code before this one and I have to say I was very disappointed with Angels & Demons. It had the potential to be a good story but things were so conveniently stumbled upon and realized just in the nick of time. After a while, I just sighed and wished the story would hurry up and be over. Even the template it followed was identical to Da Vinci Code. There were also situations that seemed very far fetched and you were expected to believe a greater force at work. I think he missed the mark on this book. Listen to Da Vinci Code instead.
