Unabridged Audiobook
4 stars. "10,000 Hours With a Rich Menace" by Jahquel J. is pretty wild, and I really enjoyed it! It's a mess (complimentary). It's a dark romance, which I don't have much experience reading, but I found it to be just the right amount of scandalous and unhinged for me. Stevie and Menace are both layered characters who seemingly change by the book's end. Despite Menace's (many!) flaws, I found him slightly endearing??? Is something wrong with me? LOL! Stevie and Menace have terrific banter with one another. Even when they get angry with each other, there is still a connection and major spark between them (despite the, you know, kidnapping thing). I love a good arranged marriage book, so this satisfied me immensely! There is a ton of drama going on in this story, most of which felt fun and thrilling to read. I thoroughly enjoyed Simone Rothschild and Myles Washington's dual audiobook narration. I feel like they complemented one another very well here. Their narration is crisp, quick, and they work well together as Stevie and Menace. I was honestly addicted to the narration to the point where I couldn't stop listening and finished this book rather quickly.
For a romance i didn't think i would laugh so hard. this actually surprised me and I really enjoyed it.
Loved this book! I could not stop laughing! Great job!
A controversial book, once I got past the language and context I began to enjoy this story Covered lots of subjects, which are “taboo” in society Grooming Coercive control Violence Graphic sex, albeit displayed as passion In the end it’s a work of fiction and worth the read
Simone Rothchild and Myles Washington brought this story to life. From the start to the finish, I was on board and holding tight! The way that the author delt with violence, murder, grief, ADHD, OCD,...etc, was excellent. Jahquel J, wrote about these things as though she knew about them first hand. I wondered throughout, whether this was part biographical, it is that well written. As a British black woman, there were some references that I didn't understand but I got the understanding later on as the book progressed. Listening to this story made me realise (again) that we black people can be our own worse enemies (), but with that, we can turn any situation into a laugh out loud moment. Witty, dark, sad, graphical and offensive (the "n" word is prolific), this is not a book for the fainthearted so do not buy if you are easily offended. Buy if you like your romance story to be f*#&*@ real!!!
Great book. Some plot holes, but overall good narration and story. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I need more of this series! It was great!
Mrs. Jahquel has me in a chokeholdddd! This book was such a good book I’ve started the Jahquel J journey in listening and reading whatever I can by her. She knows how to draw you in w|o giving too much but giving enough to want more!
Not my usual book but I very much enjoyed this. With spicy, with adventurous and excitement.
There wasn't any point to this book!
Menace hmm crazy mf but got to love the story of wonder and mystery
I couldn’t finish this book. The male narrator was difficult to understand. The female narrator did a good job. However, there was so much continuous foul language that I got to the point I could not continue.
This has me so ready for 20,000 hours
Boring book, couldn't get through half of it
This truly should be classified as an urban rom-com the way Menace Caselli had me cracking up with his shenanigans. Either that or maybe I’m a bit unhinged
Great. I love when a man loves and protects his wife & family this way.
Everyone loves a love story and the takeaway theme was that. But it was presented so ghetto that it made it difficult to listen to or take seriously. The female narrator did a great job and should have just read all of the character’s parts because the male narrator was atrocious. He spoke like a monotone news anchor with one continuous run on sentence. I would not waste my time with this book.
Great job of story line. Main character always knew what was going on…pregnancy test in the sherbet.
I finished this book too soon!! I want more! I honestly didn’t expect this book to be good, I called myself just passing some time but babyyyy let me tell you it did Not Disappoint! It’s funny first and foremost! But it’s filled with drama, and romance and some hood antics as well!! 10 out of 10 recommend!!
Narration was good - except it was really distracting and disconcerting when the male narrator Myles Rothschild did the fake female voice of Stevie, especially during the intimate scenes. Not his fault of course, but this gave the book a comical sound when it was not appropriate. I appreciate the representation of OCD. I would really appreciate it if the author would did a little deeper and truly represent how difficult clinical OCD is. Maybe in a future book. Entertaining and engaging book, I am not offended easily but if you are, this may not be a good book for you. Significant amount of swearing and violence.
This book is not worth my time.
Funny, laughed out loud multiple times
Fun, crazy, controlling. It was a good read
Very good book, I love how the book shows different relationships and how they can be maintained by the people it matters to which is the people in the relationship. No judgement on the differences, just great positive energy.
Couldn’t finish chapter 1. The male narrators voice is so jarring and the scratchy style wasn’t pleasant to listen to.
