Unabridged Audiobook
Truly one of the most interesting audiobooks I’ve listened to in the last four years. It is unlike any story I’ve ever heard, as it told through sets of interviews. I was worried interviews would rehash the same plot ideas over and over again, but each interview adds a little more to the story-and does it beautifully. By changing narrators for every interview it really keeps a listener engaged. I legitimately couldn’t stop listening, I finished the entire thing in two days. The story is interesting, parts make your jaw drop, and at it’s core, it is down right creepy.
What a book 5*****
Thrilling and a great story on the human psyche as technology becomes more Incorporated into our daily lives.
Who is not my cup of tea at all just found it really boring
great narrators and depraived story
This is genuinely one of the best written books I’ve listened to. The story is good, but the writing is exceptional. Told from multiple perspectives but each voice is authentic and believable. I’m waxing lyrical to anyone who will listen, such good storytelling and brilliantly read.
Mike Bockoven has written this in such a realistic way with gritty details that it truly reads like a compelling real-life documentary. I love that each chapter switches perspectives. The narration is amazing- each character had a unique voice.
Perfect. Dark, chilly, intriguing and clever. Awesome and extremely versatile narration.
Great book! The story hooked me and I couldn’t get enough. Great narrators, it switches per character which I liked.
Excellent narration. The writing is great and the style makes this fictional tale hauntingly realistic.
As I continued to listen to this book all I kept thinking was this book is as good as a S.King novel . Great read great listen!
This book was Fantastic! I love the way it’s set up in these interview sessions with the survivors and victims. The foreshadowing in this book is insane. Definitely a real grizzly tale. I went in thinking this book would be corny. However I was more than impressed. I love that it takes place in Florida as well! Definitely would love to see more from this author.
Hard to follow at times. Wanted a different ending.
Fun listen. Unique format.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. The plot is so unique and there was never a dull moment. The narrators were phenomenal!!
I enjoyed listening to this book, I commented on the fragility of human nature and the darkness of human behavior. I highly recommend this book for reading or listening.
Definitely worth the credit! I added Fantasticland to my wishlist because of a few BookTok recommendations from TikTok. The interview style writing made it very easy to follow! With hurricane Helene and Milton just passing through FL as I listened to this audiobook, it made it shockingly real. Would people fall off the rails so quickly?! It’s a mind bender that’s for sure!
The suspension of disbelief was too far of a reach for me. Totally implausible. Every character had the same glib attitude and similar way of telling their story. You can tell this is the author’s first book as the writing feels very immature. If I was sitting and reading this book myself I would not have finished it.
I loved this book! I liked the interview format and the narrator was awesome
Very bad book
Missed opportunity
Amazing story that kept me riveted! I love not being able to guess what happened next and I was surprised, shocked, wowed at every turn. Narrators were fantastic and made you feel you were listening to a documentary rather than a fiction novel.
Really liked the book, super interesting to listen to while doing things around the house
Written in a style similar to World War Z (an oral history), this book grabs hold of you at the beginning and never lets go! It’s almost hard to believe that the unbelievable events described in the novel DIDN’T happen, so realistic are the descriptions. I “read” the book’s audio-book version, and the voice actors are all top-notch.
I actually really liked this book. Fast-paced, interesting structure, excellent narration. Not really scary, but definitely creepy, suspenseful, and thought-provoking. Also, there is no sexual violence - hooray! I hate when horror/thriller writers use rape as a plot device. That is not entertainment. Kudos to the author on avoiding that cliche.
wasn't sure I would enjoy this book at first. But enjoy it I did, probably going to listen again to pick up what I missed since I listened at work the first time.
I got a little annoyed with the female narrator. And the book was a little frustrating at first. But it's a book you can read again.
Great book, the interview style chapters are perfect for a audiobook
Frim the moment this book started, I was hooked. Dont let the idea of it being told by interviews detour you. You are put right into Fantasticland! So good ive lostened to it twice.
