I am a white European with no real knowledge except via competing US TV channels of the difficulties black youths experience trying to navigate their way through teenage / young adult years. This was a serious lesson in reality. I loved this book - one of my favorite ever on Audiobooks. The Narration was "pare excellence". Suburb on all fronts.

A must read book for those of us who want to know the story behind the stats and newspaper headlines on black life, joy, community in the midst of institutional and rampant racism. Also cute, funny and tender.

Love the story and the point. Gives you something to think about. The narrator is doing a really nice job - I love her voice.
