Good storyline but it was a shame that I felt like the author was trying to show she knew some French - distracted from the story a lot

This book wasn't for me. It is very Continental Europe, there are numerous dialogues about nothing important. Most of the characters were similar.
I was captivated by this novel from the word go, totally engrossed. Rather a good read I'd say. I have not read anything else by this author so have nothing to compare it to..
Quite enjoyable but not Lucy Foley's best work.
Really enjoyed the narrators
I was disappointed with this one. The reviews over praise the story denying prospective readers the pleasure in the heft of the novel, its substance. Some of the dialogue made me cringe until I remind myself who is saying the words in the story. Sure, not everyone can turn a phrase the way Stephen Fry or Fran Leibovitz might, but there are only so many ‘what the fucks?!’ I can bear to hear.
Very interesting plot, fabulous read which held my attention. Could not stop listening!! Loved it!
