Your ability to change everything - including yourself - starts here

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing.

But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Forced to resign, she reluctantly signs on as the host of a cooking show, Supper at Six. But her revolutionary approach to cooking, fuelled by scientific and rational commentary, grabs the attention of a nation.

Soon, a legion of overlooked housewives find themselves daring to change the status quo. One molecule at a time.

‘Laugh-out-loud funny and brimming with life, generosity and courage’ RACHEL JOYCE

'A novel that sparks joy with every page' ELIZABETH DAY

'I loved Lessons in Chemistry and am devastated to have finished it!' NIGELLA LAWSON

I am extremely happy to have had the opportunity to read it. Beautifully written, touches every aspect on women life in the 60’s and make me realise how behind we still are…highly recommended it.

Glad it was recommended, made me wish that more people were/are as intelligent, strong and self aware (but unselfish) as Elizabeth Zott IRL nowadays. Let's seek them out and celebrate them too.

Strangely realistic and captured the essence of how cultural concepts and not science, formed, and continue to form, the lives of women. This book spoke to my experiences as a woman growing up in the 1950's and 60's and my own attempts to be taken seriously as a scientist. The narrator is also amazing.

Made me laugh out loud and sob too - an incredible tale with an inspirational main character. This is absolutely my book of the year if not decade. Quickly read it before Hollywood gets hold of it.

This book was recomended by bookclub and it was very interesting to read it. Could not stop. Serious facts of a women's life. Loved 6.30 and smart Elizabeth characters.

Struggled to get through this, shame as the story of women's struggle in the 60's could have done with a better champion. Felt like chick lit, poorly researched, and one dimensional.

A wonderful story that made my heart fill with love, sadness, happiness and always wanting to listen to more when I really had other things to do! I loved it. Thank you Bonnie Garmus and Miranda Raison for reciting it so beautifully.

I enjoyed everything about this audiobook. As one of only 2 girls in my year 12 Chemistry class and a stay at home mother with girls, this story was very relatable. Elizabeth is inspiring in her strength of conviction while a host of well formed characters and a little rowing create a balanced whole. The clarity, flow and subtle intonation of the speaker made listening a pleasure.

This book is so amazing! I read it completely then bought the audio book to listen to as I read it again, but the narrator is very robotic. Still, the novel is worth the read!
