Summary
'Remarkable, not-to-be-missed-under-any-circumstances.'—Entertainment Weekly (Grade A)

The Passage meets Ender's Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it's the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie's only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

'Wildly entertaining . . . I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.'—Justin Cronin, The New York Times Book Review

'A modern sci-fi masterpiece . . . should do for aliens what Twilight did for vampires.'—USAToday.com

The book is way better than the movie. There was more details helping explaining everything compared to the movie that I did enjoy. Now onto the next book.

I listened to this book in audiobook format and enjoyed it, for the most part. Hostile aliens have invaded earth, but no one has actually seen them. They've decimated the human population however, and there are only a handful of survivors left. The story focuses on Cassie Sullivan, the 16 year old protagonist, and her quest to keep a promise. The story was interesting and suspenseful, with enough twists that I took the long way to work so that I could keep listening! My issue with this book was with Cassie. I just found her overall rather unlikeable and annoying. While she was strong and brave, and I admired her quest, I just found her a little too whiny, petty, and self-centered for my tastes. I wouldn't let that stop me from recommending the book though. It's a minor hiccup in an otherwise enjoyable book.

Way better than the movie, it tells you a lot of stuff that didn't happen in the movie, or that was completely different than the movie, I will recommend this book to anyone who ask me about it, I really like it

This book droned on forever. I guess I didn't realize it was a young adult book so the teenage twittering really got to me. Narration was good though :)

The biggest problem I had with this book was the suggested age group of 9-12. I listened to this with my 11 year old son (almost 12) and was appalled by the amount of profanity used. The mild sexual content was a little too much for us as well.

I absolutely adored this book. I grew extremely attached to the characters and I was devastated when the book ended. Even through I normally hate female main characters, Cassie was great. She was strong willed and realistic and she carried the story well. I personally adored Evan throughout the whole story, seeing as how he gained a lot of depth as the story goes on (not too much but a lot more than the other side characters). I could honestly stay that the only bad thing about this book is that it ends. Luckily it will have a sequel in May 2014 and hopefully Audiobooks will get the audiobook when it comes out.
