Thoroughly enjoyed this book. A well-paced crime thriller with great characters, a brilliant (just unbelievable enough) plot, plenty suspense and enough quirks to set it apart from the crowd. Well narrated too. Looking forward to the second book! Highly recommended.

This was a good read. A bit different from the usual crime thriller, the main character being a disgraced former detective from a travelling fairground background. The story kept me interested and the ending was unexpected. Going on to read the next in the series. The narrator was very good too.

I would rate this book as fair and worth a listen if perhaps it was a VIP freebie. The narrator was excellent. The storyline was good but it seemed to get itself tied up in knots at times. I got confused who was who, here and there as the plot got more elaborate. I felt like the author didn’t know how to draw it to a conclusion so the end of the book was a bit bizarre. It was a who done it which for some reason I had figured it out quite early on but that said, I don’t think it’s glaringly obvious. If you are a bit squeamish and don’t like the macabre, this story may not be your cup of tea.
