Unabridged Audiobook
Loved it. Kingfishers voice
It’s my fault. I had not realized that this was a romantic fantasy when I bought it. Listening to the sex scenes was super awkward, I fast forwarded most of them. The plot, minus the romantic clichés of the genre, was interesting. But, there were a lot of romantic clichés. The narrators were great. They could change their voices to incarnate different characters. They were good.
This book was awesome! I can’t wait to find out what happens to Kingfisher and Saeris.
AMAZING!!!!!
can't wait for the next book. absolutely loved this
The audiobook really got me through it. The first few chapters we’re not very interesting to me, but once I continued and started listening to the audiobook, the book 20 times better.
It’s a hard listen as the woman voice makes every one she plays sound exasperated the whole time. The male voice is very sexy!
Overall good story. Very slow, a lot of world building in the book. Has a little spice.
The story was fun, and engaging. The spice level was perfect.
Eh, it was ok?
Narrators were great! It always takes me a minute to get into the rhythm of a new audiobook, but these narrators made it easy.
Interesting plot and dialogue but often predictable. The lead female voice showed very little diversity in modulation, staying mostly shrill, too much so at times. The male voice also didn’t change much between characters but great tones.
Great narrator. Book is alright however, not sure hype is warranted. Is no ACOTAR. But if like quick spice then is good.
Loved it! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Read like a YA book, except with f-bombs and a bit of sex. FMC narrating was dorky and constantly shouted after about an hour.
Bad book don’t get
Loved this book. Loved the different narrators and their ability to bring you into this book as they used different voices for different characters. Loved the twisted timeline and didn’t know what was coming next.
Phenomenal
A bit jumbled. Didn’t buy romance
I love a funny book. I laughed so often, I can’t wait to read more by this author. The narrators do an excellent job bringing in attitude and sarcasm. LOVE IT!!!
Great read! Looking forward to more
Absolutely amazing I’ll defiantly be relistening to this in the future!! Love both narrators!
Love the world building
enjoyed
Very enjoyable book 100% recommend it.
Great narration! Greater story
Read the book twice. Audio reads are always fun.
It took my a while to get into it but loved it towards the end
Overrated in my opinion, but entertaining enough. Love the male narrator’s voice.
I was surprised at how much I loved this book. Possibly as much as fourth wing. Fisher may be n9w be my most favorite lead male ever!
Slow at parts, annoying main characters. Interesting world building
I loved this book! I liked the humor and the connection between the characters! Great listen for sure!
Excited for the second book.
This is the kind of listening that you can fall asleep to wake up 7 hours later and not have missed much. The main character is not very well developed. The relationships are devoid of substance and every sexual interaction is cliche at best. It had potential but lacked maturity. The narrator did not help by making the main character sound more annoying and childlike than anything. Can’t be bothered even finishing and wish it didn’t cost me a credit!
excellent read
The narrator is unlistenable
It was a great book and I didn’t want to stop listening to it. The characters were well developed and the book kept you on your toes.
this is not the typical book I would have read but it was a beautiful book full of fun twists and the narration was amazing.
Great book! Hot spice and thrilling adventure. I love the main character, shes a Boss B and her love interest is just as amazing. Highly recommend!
3.5/5 stars. This was not at all “enemies-to-lovers” and I wish books would stop being marketed this way. Not to mention that the two main characters got involved with each other somewhere between 20-30% (if I’m remembering correctly). This was entertaining. I didn’t hate my time reading it but the writing was tough to overlook. I’m not sure if this will make a ton of sense to people, but the fae didn’t speak like fae. Maybe this is just me, but I always expect/want a bit of elegance when it comes to fae and I didn’t get that from this book. But the writing overall was underdeveloped. I had higher hopes for Saeris. She started off promising but ultimately fell a bit short from my expectations. I also thought the action within this book was underwhelming. And I can’t write this review without mentioning my disdain for the name Kingfisher. Most of the characters have unique and beautiful names, but then there’s Kingfisher. A quick mention: not a huge fan of how the female characters were written. Specifically Danya. I had some issues with the ending as well which I won’t mention due to spoilers. There were also plot holes in general. This book did end up being a great break from my normal pick of horror though. It was long, but also an easy and relaxing read. I already own the second book so I’m still going to continue with the sequel. I had a lot of issues with this, but like I said, I still found it entertaining.
Saren and Kingfisher's dynamic is at first somewhat interesting. there is certainly enough intrigue in the first few chapters to make for an interesting and compelling read. And honestly, I had to stop listening. After a while it's kind of like, just F** already, but then they do and you just want them to stop. Saren as a character is quite flawed, in a good way, and like I said I was unable to finish the book, but I don't know that her helpless damsel trope is ever going to be meated out. It seems like the author is somewhat content to just write an erotic fantasy novel without exploring some of the more insidious through lines that pervade throughout. I.e. Saren, once living on the edge of starvation, now sits in the lap of luxury, and just like the Queen's guards in the silver city, seems content or compelled to remain in the fae realm while her people starve. I know they probably go back once the relics are made, but it would be much more interesting if her former lover called her out and Kingfisher killed him for it, making her not only have to find a way to get back to her realm but also have to escape her overbearing, murderus, madman ex-lover.
I liked it but wish it was a full cast.
Obsessed
I absolutely loved this book!!
If you like a whiny heroine who uses the word scream a lot and sexual scenes that leave nothing to the imagination this is your book. Disappointing because I really wanted to like it. The narrator's tone didn't work for me either. Supercharged hyped all the way.
great narration
this book is ridiculously long with nothing to look forward to
Amazing book AND amazing narrators!!
Awesome world and magic building with romantasy
Could not stop thinking to this
Great book
This book is a must!
It was a tough start but once I got to chapter 6 or 7 things started to pick up and now it’s one of my favorites!!
It took me a while to start this but now that I did, i can’t put it down
Great story! Waiting for those 2 to finally come together was exhausting but thrilling. Fishers voice.... I could listen to that forever!
I just hate books where a really hateful man who mistreats women is somehow supposed to be a “hero” or even an “anti-hero” I was recommended this by a friend but DNF’d it once it hit a part where [potential spoilers removed]
I didn’t want to stop listening so good
A good slow burn
I quite enjoyed the concept and writing of the book and the male narrator's voice was rich and expressive. The female narrator was not to my taste, often being fairly nasal and ending the majority of sentences as a question. If not as a question, many statements were phrased as if incomplete. Others might well enjoy her method of delivery though.
This was a nice read/listen! I love the bantering and the back n forth conversations. There were only a few sections a really raunchy smut but other then that I give it 4.3 starts!
Couldn't stop listening.
storyline was good I'm looking forward to the second one the narrator was even better
Absolutely loved this book. waiting for the next instalment.
fantastic second instalment, looking forward to the third book
One of the best books I've listened to. Anthony Palmini has the best voice.

Overall, it was a very intriguing book to listen to. There are so many unanswered questions. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
Amazing. Cannot wait for the next one to come out
I love it it’s so good to read this book.
Great book. Interesting character development, amazing plot. Definitely worth the listen!
Couldn't but down. Great storyline. The male narrator ..
Great narration, on both parties! clear separation in characters!
I loved it!
This was a super slow burn but worth it. Nice world building with good character development.
Well written, some humor and really good characters. Loved the narrators, the guy does Rhysands voice from ACOTAR
Awesome story line, love all the characters and how sassy/snarky they are! Narration was well paced and easy to listen to!
the voice actors are amazing, the book is amazing to listen to, and it seriously is a great intriguing story. and the 'oh my' scenes will have you fanning yourself because Fisher sounds amazing throughout the whole book. worth money. worth a credit. I've read and now listened to it. my new favorite way to experience this story is audio book.
an amazing book. plot twist central. voices were greatly done. 10/10

Electrifying story with a great narrator! Can’t wait for what comes next
I am reeling! LOVED IT! Need book 2, NOW!!
If you like Xaden from Fourth wing. your gonna Loooove kingfisher and his dirty mouth.
I thought the story was really interesting and always kept me invested. The characters are well written and I absolutely love who the romance developed. I think it was a really really nice book.
really good intro to a new series. looking fwd to getting into the next one
Good
Definitely worth reading, If you like Sarah J. Mass or similar, this is for you!
This story seemed like it had many similarities of other books, but wasn’t a favorite. It felt too long and some of the scenes too complex to really keep it all straight and enjoy. It had some super spicy sex scenes and some very fun characters to live and hate. The ending is definitely a setup for the next book.
Amazing book! It has everything you want in a romance fantasy book! I can't wait for the 2nd one!
I really enjoyed this one. Great story, I'm a sucker for a good love story. The Narrators are very good, love the King Fishers voice, very hot! I can't wait for the next book in the series.
It hilarious and it’s a great book!
entertaining story with some spice and really good narrators.
Read the physical book
Really enjoy the story. Glad to have different voices to make it more entertaining. Can't wait till the next book comes out.
Awesome! Couldn’t stop listening! When is the next book coming? Biting my nails!!!!
Amazing, loved it!
Best book I’ve heard , so many twists can’t wait till the second book comes out
The storyline was interesting, the mystery aspect kept me guessing.
INCREDIBLE! Narrators are the best I’ve ever listened to, just fabulous
amazing, love it
Great narration and story. Interesting and unique magic system with great character development and a good variety of characters. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book!
so far that was a good book to entertain me while working
Love. Best world to dive into after reading ACOTAR and Fourth wing. I think I like this one the best. I can’t wait for the second one in November
Whew!! Can’t wait for book 2!
I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrators were amazing. I loved how they use different voices for each characters
If you like Sarah J Mass, you’ll really enjoy this. The world building in this novel was very similar to Mass. I love this book and I can’t wait for the next one. I dare say that I enjoyed this book more than the Fourth Wing series
I had to listen to this twice because it was so good the first time! I can’t wait till the next book comes out to see what happens! Highly recommend!
Fishers voice was dead on, Carrion, and everyone else too. I just wish her voice was a little less whiney, maybe that’s how she should sound, but that’s not how I read it. Otherwise I loved it!
Good imagination and action Very enjoyable read
Absolutely awesome! I haven't been this absorbed since ACOTAR. I love love loved this book and can't wait for #2. My only gripe is that some of the themes and plot points felt very similar to ones I've read before but that's bound to happen since I'm an avid romantasy reader and it didn't stop me from eating this book up and becoming an instant fan of this author. The audiobook narrators also crushed it and made it so enjoyable and immersive!
Loved both voices
ll
it beautiful and mind blowing
I think this would Make an amazing Netflix series. 10/10 for me
I thought this book was great from start to finish. Kingfisher might be my new favorite MMC. The narrators were amazing.
Really great world building and storytelling
It started out slow. Had a hard time getting interested. But I continued reading and fell in love with it. Can't wait for the next book. also love the narrators
It took me a few chapters to be interested, but then I was hooked! can't wait for the next book now!
