Unabridged Audiobook
My first introduction to Abbi Glines was The Vincent Boys series. I really enjoyed those books and decided to try some more of her work. I am a fan of New Adult, but I normally don’t enjoy Young Adult. The melodramatic high school drama is not my thing. That being said, Sadie is not your typical high school student so I was okay with her. Normally, I hate a young, immature heroine. Luckily, Sadie was mature for her seventeen years. That maturity comes from having to worry about your own survival. Her mother was not motherly at all. In fact, she was lazy and made me so angry sometimes (as a mother, I wanted to beat her). Sadie had to work full time to support her mother, who is also pregnant. She is forced into a situation no seventeen year old should face and she handles it with a maturity that most adults would have trouble with. Jax is a famous rock star, sick to death of teenage fans. He wants a break from the craziness of his life. He’s thrown off by Sadie. He expects her to jump him the moment he sees her, but she doesn’t. She does her job and ignores him (even though she is wildly attracted to the gorgeous man). He soon discovers what her life entails and learns what a wonderful person she really is. I loved their budding relationship. It was sweet with just a little naughty thrown in. I was choked up in some parts when things looked bleak for the two of them, but I trust Abbi Glines and know she will give me the happily ever after I crave. Normally, I have trouble believing in a happily ever after with a seventeen year old character, and add to that a rock star and it’s even harder to swallow. Still, I believed that both Jax and Sadie know what they have in each other. I really enjoyed the story. I think this story will appeal to someone looking for a sweet, almost sappy romance.
